i know that the blackberry specs could support even though it might not be the best speed, but it would still be cool if someone took on the task to make a psx or even a gba or gb or even gbc emu for the blackberry storm anyone with me?
    any emu would be nice
i have the source code for psx nes and gba emus that are for the iphone if that will help

    -----ps
i have the nes emu for the ipod and its realy ez the touch controls are great and i could live without the music. also they have already made gb and gba emus in java but none of them work on the blackberry storm would anyone take on the task of porting one of these to the blackberry storm or starting from the beginning heres the website of the guy who makes emus for the ipod

They'd basically have to make touchscreen button controls. Not unheard of. Odds someone will do it though?....

I see one main problem. The storm only has one audio channel

Isn't there already an emulator for phones? MeBoy, and its for Java enabled phones. I'm at work so I can't access the website and check the phone compatibility but if someone can verify it, the website is arktos.se/meboy

One review says compatible, the other says it wont boot, will dl this as soon as I get home and give it a whirl.

It's probably VERY difficult to get console/handheld controls to work on a touch screen, let alone that and the actual screen.

dont you think the game would be a little weird since you cant layer sounds on our phone. ie anytime mario jumps the music would stop lol

I understand the sound issue, not such a big deal for me as I 99% of the time have my phone on silent, and as it is I turn the sound off on all of my games. I could easily live without the sound, even better be playing all of my own music over my favorite nes games.

Maybe this is a stupid question, but if movies play fine with the standard speaker why would games be limited to 1 sound at a time?

    movies have 1 sound channel
games can have alot like battle music
then the attacks during the battle would be on another channel

Those sounds are all coming from one source. Background noise and then an action noise are two sources requiring 2 channels. Storm only has 1.

    edit: beaten.

Ah, I figured if we can get movie quality sound from 1 channel why can't a simple NES game do it.

Is there any way to convert the game sound to mono? Or would it screw it all up?

Well, if all you wanted was background music I guess it could be done. But that is basically it.

Darn it, an emulator can't convert stereo -> mono?

I know there is a reason I kept my 700+ NES roms around all these years...
