i assume by seleting LOUD then going through profiles--> set ringtones/alerts,

is the only way to adjust the properties for that profile.

    WRONG

the settings remain the same as NORMAL.

    WTF mate?

You can't alter the standard settings, you have to create a new profile.

I don't think you can change the volume of the ring for each contact...if that's what you mean. Only the ring itself.

mate, thats why blackberry gives you the option of creating you OWN PERSONAL profile. you can make it however loud or as quite as you desire and you can set ringtones to whomever you want and those ringtones can be set at different volumes also.

Wow...didn't know you could give certain "volumes" to contacts through personal profiles. Learn something new everyday with this phone...I'm off to play...lol.

The Sounds application allows you to specify ring tones, types of vibration, and the LED notification for the Phone, Alarm, Calendar, and Tasks applications, and Level 1 Messages. The standard sound profiles are Normal, Loud, Medium, Vibrate Only, Silent, Phone Calls Only, and All Alerts Off. You can also create new ones.

To edit Ring Tones and Alerts, complete the following steps:

From the Home screen, select Sounds.
    Click Set Ring Tones/Alerts.
Specify how you want to be notified for each item (for example, SMS Text)
Display the menu, and click Save.

NOTE: Changes made using Set Ring Tones/Alerts are applied to the Normal profile. The Loud, Medium, Vibrate Only, Silent, and Phone Calls Only settings change the Normal profile. Changes to the Volume are only applied to the Normal profile. For example, if you set the Volume to 4 using Set Ring Tones/Alerts, changing it to Loud increases the Volume to 10, but all of the other settings stay the same.
