I did the mistake of loading a restore from my blackberry 8830 to my storm, now i've lost the maps application, along with other stuff.
any ideas??

You probably lost your service books, do a manual "Register Now" from Options->Advanced Options->Host Routing Table

Happened to me. dial *228 hit option 1 and wait. everything will be back.
updating service books didnt work for me.
