Well if that's the case it MUST be the hardware being build differently for different people. How can u explain two identical new phones behaving differently. Gee I'm glad we solved the mystery.
FACT is there is NO FACT because no one knows why these phones behave differently for everyone. That is why BB better hope there new OS fixes this crap because with better and better phones coming out people aren't gonna stick around for long.
LOL!!! Nope!
Explain how the two phones in my family work IDENTICALLY. :) Prior to our current phones we had S1's (3 of them). All 3 were a disaster--OS issues (.75).
Dave, what was your first BlackBerry? Weren't you a little "gun shy" after 3 bad S1s?? What made you stick with BB and get an S2?
I was VERY gun shy! If it weren't for my wife's repeated whining about missing her Storm, I'd never have repurchased them early this year. Our first stab at Blackberries was in April 09 and was an unmitigated disaster. The phones kept rebooting, locking up, and otherwise drove us crazy. With the help of tech support, I reloaded the OS on my phone to no avail--the damn thing kept screwing up. My wife's phone and mine was incapable of doing any of the voice activated features for more than a moment at a time. I also had a second S1 because of some defect (I've forgotten what it was) and had the same issues.
When the S2 came out later in 09 I figured things should be better. So I bought another pair of Storms. I don't recall the specifics, but suffice it to say we had so much trouble that I returned them for a refund in short order. Some of the problems are chronicled within my posts on this forum, but I'm too lazy to dig through them to refresh my memory.
Getting back to my wife's whining: I caved in to her desire to have a BB again, and reluctantly bought 2 more S2's. The phones have been GREAT. I traded mine in for one with the silicone actuators, while she opted to stick with the earlier version.
This morning, laying in bed for a while before facing the day, I marveled at the vivid colors and deep black levels (relative to other brands of phones and mp3 players) while watching Back to the Future! I've seen the HTC EVO, which has a large screen, but sadly has "gray" blacks. I'm eager to see if the Droid X has a screen more like the Storm--vivid color and deep blacks.
Did you notice a big difference with the silicone actuators? Did they give you a refurbished phone (my works now so I hate to take a chance on "creating other problems")? Did you just go to the store and ask them to swap? PS: I hope your wife doesn't read your posts!
Oh Dave, lying in bed, marveling at your BB Screen; we need to get you a hobby, lol! :)
I didn't notice much difference, but when I use her phone I've tried to discern the difference in a way that would allow me to comment intelligently on it, but to tell the truth the difference is miniscule. Her's certainly isn't "bad" or problematic--it just has a very subtle difference in the way the screen feels. It operates just fine for typing, as does mine.
My replacement phone was new because I was within the first 30 days. Yes, I went to the local company store.
She chose not to replace her phone--something I wasn't happy with at the time, but after all these months it's clear that hers is working great.
