open you msg folder, and look for missed calls or maybe a vmail notice. sometimes those are looked past and are one thing that will have a lingering message icon attached to them

what he/she said,
and try a battery pull if that doesn't work
also, check in your "saved messages" folder on the phone. sometimes you may save an unopened msg, and it won't be visible in the actual messages folder, but is still on the device
this happened to me yesterday when i switched from curve to storm. i found a verizon registration message that had appeared WAY down in my email list...
this is not the first time i have had a random, backdated email appear from verizon/rim.
check back all the way through yer emails...could be the same problem
I had this issue but it was because I activated visual voicemail when I had a new voicemail waiting. If you use visual voicemail and havnt found a "hidden" message somwhere on you phone, here is what you do. First make sure your message waiting indicator is turned on through your voicemail. Call verizon (not from your cell phone) and have then turn OFF visual voicemail. Tell the person from verizon what your doing and put them on hold. (they will stay there) Then call your cell and leave a message. Retrieve the message and delete it. This should relieve your message problem. Then just have the person turn on visual voicemail again...or keep it off if you dont like it. Oh btw Verizon seems to have no idea how to fix this issue so dont ask them for help. They will try to tell you to go to a store and completely wipe out your phone. If your feeling generous share with them how you did this. They probably won't listen but you can share anyway. Hope this helps.
