would you recommend getting the phone Insurance?
I got it just in case. Talked to a co-worker she got insurance her BOLD Maybe after a year I'll probably take it off. Just depends on if it's something you can afford and don't mind wasting that money if you never use it. Remember there is a 50 dollar deductible per incident. I'm not sure if it covers theft.
Insurance is a personal choice, and you have to balance the monthly/total cost + deductible with your guess at the chance of possible damage.
For me, it's worth it on a phone that retails for $500+. It's never happened to me (knock on wood), but I've had plenty of friends with dropped phones or wet phones.

I dropped a phone in my swimming pool, the insurance allowed me to get another. My Treo 700P started acting really weird after 2 years, paid $50 to Assurion and received my replacement within 24 hours.

I got the insurance from Best Buy because that is where I bought the Storm. I have to pay 9.99/month but there is no deductible and it covers normal wear and tear.
I just bought insurance for my Bold through Squaretrade. Reasonable prices and they offer a plan that covers accidental damage.
