I've installed some 3rd party apps like Poynt, Lightsaber app, viigo etc... My question is about app permissions. All apps seem to want access to email, organizer data, files, security data amongst other things. Should I disallow permissions for these items? Does the phone send personal info back to the app makers? Does allowing access to email, files etc.. send info back to the vendor of the contents of my messages and my phone? Thanks in advance.

I wouldn't worry about it too much. It isn't likely that the developer would access your personal data on the BB from the app. For the three apps that you listed above, the only default permissions that they asked me to change were to allow my location data and input simulation. So if you feel uncomfortable with having the user data section allowed, you can set it to deny if you want.
