some phones have the wireless update option in advances options, if not, do this:
options > advanced options > service book > hover* over 'provisioning [otasl]' > menu key > delete >menu key > undelete
repeat that a few times then go to the home screen again then options > advanced options and there should be a new thing that says wireless upgrade at the bottom
obviously no upgrades yet, but at least you know you can do it OTA

I tried this yesterday and today - no go for me. Instead of "provisioning [otasl]" as you stated above, mine says "provisioning [PROVISIONING]" (all-caps are like that on the phone, not my emphasis!). When I press the menu key, my only options are view, show keyboard, switch aps, close.
Prior to seeing this post, I went in to my VZW store on Sat and the guy said that altough there wasn't a true software update, there were a few parts of the software that may have been incompletely loaded the first time, so he "updated" it for me. He said that was supposed to give the wireless update option, but it didn't.
Anybody else have "provisioning [PROVISIONING]" instead of [otasl]?
I feel like an *****. I saw the "provisioning" at the top and thought I had something different - I didn't scroll and look down the list well enough to find the second "provisioning" - that one was [OTASL]. I did the delete/undelete trick, waitied a couple of minutes, and voila, the wireless upgrade option appeared!
Thanks
(now I'll go hide my head in embarrassment)
