This is crazy. Why does the handset not work in a normal environment? I have to use a headset or create some background noise for people to understand me? I called tech support and they said that I should turn the speaker volume down so that I can just barely hear people and that should make it work better. That is nuts! Someone tell me why I shouldn't just go back to my curve?

I read someone else say the speaker phone works better in a noisy envir., because of the new noise cancellation. In a quiet place it cuts into voice wavelength.

Your heading for this thread is very misleading. At this point and time, I would like to give you a pink Pearl.

No, people can actually hear me better when I turn the treadmill in my home office on. This make constant noise in the background and somehow the crappy noise cancellation doesn't make me sound like there is a sock in my mouth.

Disable Enhanced Audio in the Phone app. If that doesn't work, do a wipe on it after backing up, but don't restore. Test it before you make any changes. If it's still botched with all default settings, then it's a defective unit... especially if it's on OS .75. If it's less then that, update it to official .75 and try again.

    This!!!!!
I'm having the same problem. Its the only reasonable explanation. The phone is equipped with two microphones. 1 near your mouth to hear voice the 2nd at the top of the phone to hear background noise. When there is no background noise the 2nd mic will pick up your voice and "think" its the background so it will try and filter it out.

**TEST** when people are complaining about not being able to hear you turn your phone to speaker and ask if you sound better.

When in speaker the noise cancellation is turned off because its in speaker it "knows" you will be speaking in the background.

this IS a big problem with the phone. Check out these people are also having the same problem Send [email protected] an email if you have this problem and request they fix this problem. In the least give us an option to turn of noise cancellation.
