Mobipocket has free software which will convert .PDF files (and several other formats) into the .PRC ebook file used for their reader.

When you import a pdf file into mobipocket reader desktop it converts it to the prc format. I have been having problems. The converted files jumble words all around here and there. I have tried there other program, Mobipocket Creator with no luck at all.

Anyone else have similar problems and know how to fix or work around this?

What I do is convert pdf to text in adobe then text to prc in mobipocket creator. Sometimes spacing is a little strange but never had jumbled words

I have actually noticed that with certain books it doesn't matter whether I import it into mobipocket desktop as a pdf or an html file, it still jumbles words, and in the same spots. The problem with text or doc files is mobi will not import those files unless microsoft word is installed on the pc. It is not installed on mine. I use openoffice.org. I refuse to give Microsoft any more money than necessary.

I just broke down and purchased Repligo. Nice app....expensive, but it's rock solid.
