How come I can't use the standard backgrounds from the storm?

You can. When you click pick image just click the green up arrow until you get to system. click on it and select pictures.

That does not work. When I pick a system locked pic it goes back to pattern lock default.
Can someone confirm.

Can you try making a copy of the picture and putting it in a different folder and then selecting that? Some devices seem to have certain properties/permissions set on these files that stops PatternLock from properly accessing them.
