I know there is definitely a new firmware being released soon but I think we've all come to the consensus that what the VZ CS reps say should be taken with a grain of salt. So let's try and stop these "they said" stuff and post OFFICIAL releases/notices etc. K thx bye.

Why be a **** about it?
It'll take less than 24 hours to prove me right or wrong. If you don't like my thread or my information then don't post.
I had a call out of the blue (about 30 minutes ago) from Verizon to ask me if everything was OK with the Storm. I asked about the update, and he told me to expect it tomorrow.

Well, you're clearly just too jaded...the new release will be out next Tuesday, but only in states with the letter "B" in it. The version will be 4.8.0.99999, on a platform 9.9.9.94...it'll be the ultimate, but if you don't wipe back to BB 8800 v4.2...even on the Storm, then it'll melt your ice cream...this is reliable, I heard a guy talking to another guy, about his sister's boyfriend's cousin's girlfriend's brother works for a contractor that does work for a company that works at the brother of a guy that works for AT&T...
That is NOT the official verizon update. It says you can delete the vendor file and tweak it to work on verizon, but its not the official one. Sorry but you failed.
I am a VZW CS Rep in a midwest call center. At approximately 5:15PM local time I was at work when an e-mail arrived. I looked at it and it was official notification that the new .75 official version will be released starting on 12/5/08 for the Storm. I hereby confirm and affirm to everyone reading this thread this is true. Thats about all I can tell you at this time, but it is official that it will be out starting Friday 100% guaranteed. Now, whether you want to believe me or not, thats up to you. I am not a first time poster on here, I've been active on this forum since the Storm released and I hope every prior post to today has been proven enough that I do know what I am talking about!
It has been said that and I would asume that the official and the leaked are the same, so what is recommended, take official or stayed with leaked? I am also considering the bell 76......decisions decisions
so it's going to be .75 -- with those of us who installed .75 'leaked' have anything to gain? or in the past have you guys seen the carrier version have more changes etc? --- I was hoping to see .76.. or .78.. or .85 or something when Verizon finally did put out an update.

It's not going to happen. If they made any changes since the leaked version came out, they would have changed the version number.
I wouldn't be surprised if Verizon leaked the OS themselves. Free mass beta testing.
