Official Firmware 4.7.0.150 on its way?!
- To add to this, I just pulled up the PDF of the old release from Verizon's site. Below is a what the description shows:
Download the Latest OS Enhancements for Your BlackBerry Storm 9530 Smartphone
Verizon Wireless is pleased to announce new software enhancements
for your BlackBerry Storm™ 9530 smartphone. The Research In Motion
4.7.0.75 release 107 update includes the latest feature improvements for
your device.
As you can see, they refer to it as "Release 107". So, if and when 150 comes out (if this rumor is true), it will be RELEASE 150, not app version 150. With all respect to whom came up with the wonderful idea of refering to releases by their APP version intead of the Release version (BBF peeps), I think it's fair to say that most of the VZW reps will probably refer to the releases by their Release version and not the app version. After all, if you look at the Help Me screen, you'll always see the release version in "()"... as in 4.7.0.106 (150).
BTW, if you want to have a good laugh, you guys should pull up this version PDF and read it. They have the "problems" listed and each sentance starts with "Intermitantly"... lol, as if to try and deter from the fact that IT HAPPENS ALL THE TIME.Prepare yourselves for a lot of "Intermitantly" listings in the new release's PDF.
02-19-09 04:30 PMLike 0 - i don't know about other people...i've seen horror stories with upgrades..things missing.. memory leaks (i've been fine...i'll dip down to 22 megs every now and again during heavy use..but it doesn't run any slower).
i normally do a batter pull before i go to fully charge anyway....
but with every beta that's come out.... i've only seen improvement....i like doing the updates.... even if they're not officially supported.... as long as your bb's backed up, contacts, etc....what do you have to lose but reverting back to an older os02-19-09 04:38 PMLike 0 - I tried .103 twice. I call it getting caught up in the madness. The second time I reinstalled .75 after 3 hours. My application memory went from 40.2 to 27.3. On .75 I start (after a battery pull) around 42.5 and it takes 24 hours before I go down to 30.02-19-09 04:43 PMLike 0
- Strange enough, for my Storm, .75 was completely terrible with 1 hour "Error: Application Reset" going white then restarting.
.103 and .99 have been very nice to me. I can handle these versions. I hated when i tried to send a text the memory would go from 10 MB to 0, then reset because it couldn't run.02-19-09 05:02 PMLike 0 - 02-19-09 06:03 PMLike 0
- yea i really never check my free memory because mine actually runs pretty smooth. every once and a while i will and ill be down at like 18 and things are still going great. i dont really know but in my experience free memory doesnt really mean s***02-19-09 06:15 PMLike 0
- Well I guess this is how I see it and I thought this made sense to me but I might be wrong. I have V4.7.0.103 on my phone (Platform 4.0.0.131) SO the way I see it is that the new V4.7.0.150 is not a correct version number. The real version number would be V4.7.0.105 (Platform 4.0.0.150) which is not such a jump as people are claiming and wondering.02-19-09 06:36 PMLike 0

- whatever the final decimal loadout is, we're going the right direction. the storm really is coming into its capabilities. .103 "pure" is the superior build so far.
I'd be happy to have the phone take up as much memory as it wants, like the 8GB of ram in my computer. what concerns me is the CPU calls that prompts it to stall, even when I have 40+MB free on the Storm. For example, I'd be happy to sacrifice some memory overhead to make the phone call transition stable and reliable.
mainly I'm glad there are so many technically savvy folks here that willingly bash their head against this device and its OS, and we're seeing the improvements incrementally!!02-19-09 06:46 PMLike 0 - Much like you, I get a real kick out of all of the memory discussion. If it wasn't meant to be used, they wouldn't put it in the device. If I was down to my last 8k and my Storm was still working, I wouldn't lose a minute's sleep over it, but that's just me.02-19-09 06:50 PMLike 0
- That kind of rational and level headed thought has no place here! Begone with you from this place! Do not think to befoul it with your "logic" and "reason" again!02-19-09 07:44 PMLike 0
