Does anyone else have a problem with the timer? The seconds hand no longer moves while clock in timer mode. Other than that, I see no real big differences btwn this and hybrid 103/106 which is what I had before this upgrade.

no, I just tried the timer, and it is moving, backwords

anyway, i installed it a while ago, but i'm still not happy,
first of all, the lock is a bug, i cant lock my phone, when i press lock, will somtimes work, when i press and hold, or double press, and the msg that appears to tell you u have to unloce the phone, doesn't have the pic of the lock (like the original .75)

2nd still have the language problem, and they don't have the typing language i was hopping for, so i got it from the .99 ver, but it is no working while in the sms, nor mms mode, and if i select it there, i can't select english back,

3rd, overall impression, nothing new, same speed, well i didn't feel and difference, all along the betas, but the internet is faster.

4th, the best thing about it, or betas as well so far, the green go, and the full keyboard in landscape mode, while we still need the back space, so u can go to any letter without having to use ur finger for an hour to pick one lol

5th, when picking a language, an icon appear at the top right corner, where the signal bar is, and where also the internet browsing icon shows, so it is really doesn't make since having all those icons at the same place, where they can be put at other empty places

Hey Kauai you're sayn delete the vendor file from the apploader screen, right? In the Common Files>RIM>Apploader there is a vendor file at the bottom...you're sayin delete that? Sorry if its basic i just dont kno this stuff 100% and dont wana mess nothin up...Thanx for takin the time tho...it is appreciated.

Yeah I removed the vendor file xml file as stated in the instructions but even though I've done that and removed it from my waste bin on windows I still have problems uploading the new 109.

I've tried doing it again this morning and still the same problem and it still shows that I'm running on .106

Well there are several ways to go about fixing this. For me, it only recognized the update once I deleted the vendor.xml file. Although you may want to try and uninstall all other OS's then try updating the OS using the loader.exe found at c:/program files/common files/research in motion/apploader/loader.exe

I tried the loader.exe way but it didn't work for me. But yea the vendor.xml file would be the one to delete if you update the OS thru DM. Again I would save a copy of it somewhere else just in case.

Still haven't repaired the mms.cod file...Still shows color box/gray box (instead of image your trying to fwd/attach from a website or even Saved Media pics....(MMS just hates .jpg files) when using MMS.

Sad i have to use .86 mms.cod to correct this issue. You would think after how many builds (regardless if they are beta and not for public view) they would have corrected this issue...

look for a backup file in your my docs folder, you should be able to see one, or search for it in your computer, and it will have the date alse, the file is with the extension .ipd

Did you uninstall all previous versions of the OS on your computer? If so, restart computer, make sure .109 is the only OS installed at Add/Remove programs. Then try running DM again. Also when updating through DM, don't forget to turn off your internet connection.

Like the others said, the brand version will vary from device to device.
The branding version has to do with carrier ID and location of where the phone was flashed to become a specific model number. The branding version is composed of three parts. The first part of the branding version (1.0) is the version number. The next part (105) is the verizon carrier id. The last part (xxx) is the location where it was manufactured and flashed. Together they display as 1.0.105.xxx.

Hah, damn man. I swear I had the same problem and feelings too. So you did do everything I stated right?

1) Make sure .109 is the only OS installed on PC (might need to restart computer to make sure all previous version are completely uninstalled)
2) Delete vendor.xml file
3) Disconnect from internet
4) Connect BB
5) Run DM, Apploader, and you should be prompted to update

The other method would be to just run the loader.exe (in the same place as the vendor.xml file) and upgrade from their.

I feel your pain man. Had the same problem but got it working after doing these steps.

I have used every leak and hybrid. Stability is the number one issue, and these few previous releases have been relatively stable. I have been concerned about the lag in performance over the course of the day. I am not so concerned with the app memory number as much as the slowing in performance after about 6 hours of light to moderate use of phone, email, and web sites. In particular, the shift from landscape to portrait becomes very slow, especially when coming out of the holster.

This, to me, is the number one issue to be resolved, so that I do not need to resort to a battery pull every 6-8 hours to restore performance levels. This has occurred for every beta release, but seemed a bit better with the 109 hybrid. We'll see about this 109 release.

hey kainharkins i just saw your post in the other thread at 7:01 you say you're workin on .109 now, so are you saying that you got it to work? B/c i had the same prob with having the option of .65, .75, and .109 and when i select .109 it tells me no update necessary and just like you it says i am still running .103

My first posting! I have used all of the unofficial updates since .75. My wife's phone currently has .75 which i'm using for comparison. So far scrolling is significantly faster using .109. The difference is really quite amazing.
A strong word of advice: Back up the Storm before doing the update. My data and apps did not make it through the update but I was able to easily restore everything from the backup file.

Omg so I just closed my screen. Install is done. BUT, the restore process didnt work. So im going to try and redo that through the DM. Anyone have a remote idea where my backup file would be saved?

Upgraded from .103 and everything is running smoothly. No problems whatsoever. Quickest revision of the OS thus far.

Ok Kauai...thank you for the help...the upload was successful with 1 hiccup...during the installation my BB was disconnected from the comp. Once i realized this I plugged it back in, crossed my fingers, and aftr it rebooted it finished the installation and restoration. But now my only problem is that the BB Browser icon is not on my home screen or anywhere else for that matter. When i open the browser file in options it has "Default browser configuration:" but then nothing...no options for me to select. I looked in applications and "Browser" is still there so i dont believe its deleted. Any help? Anyone who could help, it would be appreciated or even if anyone can tell me if its possible to download the browser OTA. I am more comfortable with the BB Browser as opposed to Bolt b/c of the whole surepress clicking to select as opposed to scrolling and tapping.

im with telus and want to know if i can get the new os.109 leak for my storm9530 ,since i have no idea what im doing and it looks like only my brethren from verison are using these os leaks. Am i totally wrong here? can i use this new leak even though i'm with telus, and does it void any warranties or anything cause im on the three year contract. i need to know everything about my storm and what it can do, but i seem to be struggling with these inquiries. how easy is it to do the firmware change. i don't even know what's on my storm right now. i bought it at christmas and never was brave enough to try any of this stuff. but i'm sick of the lags and freezing and ****. and i'm willing to do anything. should i wait for telus to fix this or should i just use this os leak. what risks am i taking other than the fact that the file could be tampered with.(which i doubt it is) cause i just don't know what i'm doing at all. that's why i'm here. thanks

I agree totally !!

The most important thing to me is that my phone works when it's supposed to. I just upgraded from .99, skipping .103 because of the poor battery life reports. With .99, I would ONLY have to do a battery pull about every two days or so. I say "only," sarcastically, since that is really unacceptable, but I won't complain too much because I do realize that I'm running an unofficial beta - which by nature is going to have some unresolved bugs.

I do miss some of the "nice-to haves" from .90, such as the larger font on the keyboards and the enhanced colors, but I will sacrifice that for the time being for stability. My phone simply has to work when I need it....
