I was just at a VZW store in Palatine, IL. I had the opportunity to mess around with the Storm...which was fantastic...very smooth phone and the video is crazy. The manager said that the stores won't have it in stock until the 24th but that she could order it for me and have it sent to me by the 22nd. Is she BSing me?
Perhaps her specific store won't have it until the 24th, but it appears that most VZW stores will have it on the 21st. I would check other stores around you.
Many resellers will have it in stock days after the 21st.
I went to the VZW store in my home town (only about 30000 people) and they said the week of the 24th sometime. Today I'm at my mom's house (about 110000 people) and the store here said they will have plenty in stock on Friday the 21st. I'll be riding back over here on Friday it looks like!
From what I have seen, all corporate stores will have theirs on the 21st. I called 4 of them within a 20mi range of me, and all said they will have it...plus they are opening 2-3 hours early.
Yeah, all corporate stores WILL have them in stock, its possible that those Kiosks and Authorized Retailers get the secondary orders because Corporate Stores/Online VZW Store have priority over the others

If there are other stores in the area, definitely give them a call. The store you were at is going to get them on the 21st. Not sure why the manager would tell you otherwise.
Ya Palatine is a big pile Dog crap. I hate the fact that she told me that...I want this thing on Friday.
On a side note this will be my first Berry coming off of Windows Mobile...my wife has a Curve and I know she is going to go nuts when I bring this thing home.
I think it's mostly just a lack of communication amongst the Verizon folks. I called my local store today and asked if they will be opening early Friday. The lady told me that they won't have the Storm until the 23rd. After explaining to her that the VZW website shows the 21st she put me on hold. After a moment she returned and said that it will be available the 21st. She actually asked me if I know what the price will be.
No worries here, I think we shall all have a Storm on the 21st.
