How come I cannot have a blackberry messanger conversation or browse the internet while on a phone call?

I thought that was a huge plus about this device.....

If you have no 3g connection, and are running 2g only, then yes, your call will interupt data - check your signal

that is not a attribute of the device but of the Verizon network.

Nothing to do with the phone, this is normal for current CDMA operations. Talk to Verizon it's their network.

Thats crazy. Didn't we all know the phone was coming out exclusive to Verizon? Why was the voice & data simutaneous mentioned many times as a huge plus to this phone?

    Definitely a major let down.

well . . . theoretically it will allow that when you roam on GSM 3G. Anyone who mentioned on ANY CDMA device (until 4G - LTE) would have been off.

It was a plus for the Vodafone guys! They are GSM! Wasn't listed as a plus for Verizon!

Text and sms are not considered data . . email, and web will not work while on a call.

It was touted as a huge plus when using a GSM network, which admittedly you will not do often if at all when in the United States. But still... it underscores the importance of reading all claims closely and doing your homework.

I'm sorry, but this really seems like such a miniscule thing to me....

If you're on a phone call, shouldn't you be oh you know, on the phone call? Why do you NEED to be using BBM or AIM or the internet while talking to someone on the phone?

Wow.. that is interesting to know.. I had thought that the EVDO Rev A did the simultanious voice and data.. Certainly not a deal breaker but good to know.

    No computer?

I guess it makes sense to me when you mention E-mail, since BB are a business phone and what not. But for like IMing and stuff it still doesn't make sense.

But, AFAIK, no BB on Verizon can do data and calls at the same time, so this isn't anything new right?
