The only other logical reasoning is a broken micro-USB port on the storm.

You could try a charging pod for your Storm, they work great and you wouldn't have to struggle with the port. You can buy right here on Crackberry site.

Are you running a custom theme? I had been running a theme, that I dumped because it was leaking way too much memory, that didn't show the bolt when charging. The only time it would show the bolt was in landscape mode.

Your problem is almost definitely the charge port on your phone needs replacement. We fix them through our ebay repair listings for $44.95 for the storm. Just type "blackberry charge port repair" for your ebay search and look for the listings with "PORT REPAIR" around a charge port in big red writing. Our ebay username is "its-a-pheo" We have fixed hundreds of them and complete the fix the day we receive the phone from you. Feel free to PM me with any questions.

Rather than pay $45 to fix the port. You could pick up a cheap battery charger on Ebay. The one I got came with two batteries for about $12 or so. Then you can have a battery fully charged on the charger that you can just swap when you need to.

BTW, the type of charger I'm talking about looks like an AC adapter that accepts a BB Storm battery on top of itself. You just place the battery on the adapter and it charges the battery completely independent of your phone.

Or better yet if you have some soldering experience or you are brave you can buy a new charger port from cnn.cn for $6.99 and put it in the phone and have it work again.
