I'm just wondering...Does unbranding get rid of DRM as well?

    unbranded by carriers.
What did you use to de-brand your phone? As far as I know the 9520 is not supported by MFI multiloader.

I just found the same 5.0.0.580 version at Vodafone Egypt. I guess it is the DRM version. Downloading now... will tell you if it works on my Vodafone NL 9520 (with DRM)

    one little question:
topic says 9550 but will it work on 9520 too? And should make a hybrid of it? Because I need chinese font support.

    thx

As I said: "I was just wondering..." and I didn't unbrand anything yet. Take it as a rhetorical question. Even if MFI is not working, I'm still wondering...! I'm sure there is a way with something else than MFI.

Regarding the news from Egypt, I will definitely try and report back. At the moment I'm running on Lyr's 497/591-Hybrid and being very happy so far. But a pure OS is always something else.

Up and running on the egyptian OS 580. So far so good. No changes seen yet but no lag (yet) and slighly less memory - 130>127mb free. Buttons at the bottom still an issue on a flat surface(now convinced its hardware). Browser still stunningly slow.

Screen seems snappier. Too early for battery life

Do we have a mirror already?

To the mods; Please change the title of the thread. For example: "also as DRM-version" or split the thread as 5.0.0.580 Release by VF Egypt (DRM)

    Thanks!

First of all, big thanks to sddroog!

Here are my findings after playing for 2 h.

    - Screenclick and responsiveness seems smoother than .497
    - My apps are all working (BerryBuzz, Opera 5, Viigo, Google Maps, QL)
    - Slightly less memory (1 MB) after everything was installed and battery-pulled than .497, but hey what the heck...!
    - Cannot comment on battery life, since installation is too short ago.
    - Mediaplayer no probs so far, smooth FF and FR in movies and songs
    - Recommended over .497? Definitely!

    Try this 'Official' DRM version....

    9520AllLang_PBr5.0.0_rel984_PL4.2.0.250_A5.0.0.580 _Vodafone_Egypt.exe

    (Select Storm 2 obviously...)

    Thanks sddroog!!

if only I had seen this earlier, I wouldnt of went to the trouble of downgrading from the extremely buggy .497 back to .436 and lost all my apps in the process!

The new egypt DRM version should of been flagged up on the thread title! It was only because I saw MaxdMerc posted a link in another thread why I knew it was out.

So thanks for the heads up too MaxdMerc.

Working great overhere. Better than my previous OS's. The thing that I love the most about this new release is the speed, it's just smoooooth!!

I have tried alot of OS's and this is the best so far. No big changes just feels alot more solid and like said above smooth. I used to get a problem ending calls but this SEEMS to have got rid of it. And I think its the classic new OS placebo but the browser SEEMS faster (to the point am using instead of opera mini for the first time).

Could do with more findings and opinions tho folks. GET POSTING....please

I'm having issues with twitter 37. Sometimes it freezes the screen and gives me issues. Other than that this is a solid os.

Yeh first impressions from my side are amazing! loaded the OS at 12pm UK time with 100% battery life...and now 24 hours later im down to 30%...

i could never go more then 12 hours on the previous builds, 436 has been the best for me so far, 497 was crap!

and in terms of smoothness, its much better on 580...so far then im very impressed...i hope its stays like this...will report back in a day of two....!!

I've been running this OS for a few days now and I have had 0 issues. I'm keeping this one battery life is OK, not the best, but that's a Storm Hardware issue :P. But the OS itself is fast, reliable, typing is a dream, browsing is good. What else can I ask for in a BB OS? THIS IS a keeper
