Probably not. It never works that way. Why would RIM spend the time and money to develop for older models when it would be just as easy to pass that cost to consumers by buying newer devices?
was it not already stated that the storm II is getting OS6?
RIM themselves have not came out and said either way, though they have made the statement to Kevin when they debuted the browser "there is a reason we showed it running on a 9700". Memory wise the storm 2 matches the 9700 and processor wise is close with a GPU as well. That does bode well for the storm 2 and a select few other devices, but there has not been an official statement made on the topic.

You do realize that RIM supports their devices for a long time don't you? The 8800 and 8330 have been updated many times and they have been out for a long time. In fact the 8330 was again updated with OS 5. RIM stands behind their products like no other company and that's a big reason why they are successful.
As someone else had stated, the Storm2 will get OS 6 - but it probably will use a bit more memory.. Kind of like when OS 5 came out for the original 9530 - after installing OS 5 users had less memory. The Storm2 has full OpenGL capabilities needed to run OS 6 and it's new browser, it also has enough CPU power to run it with it's dual core processor.
