    when i was talkin to the gf last night i had her on speaker phone and realized there was this box with plus symbols under the volume control i have no idea what it is ...sooo i bring it here.. can any one explain

    You have Bass or Treble enhancement on for calls. Press the menu button while on the dialer screen and go to Enhance Audio to toggle it on or off.
