    a little backround.

i upgraded to .148 from .109 last night. everything seemed to be running smoothly.

a few hours ago i noticed it was unresponsive again. having done tons of pulls over the past few months with .109 i gave it a try. when i put the battery back in there was no response from the phone. no led activity, nothing. tried plugging in the charger, again no led activity. tried connecting to my pc.. nothing.

i've read though the instructions on restoring a nuked os but I can not get past the app loader step because my pc will not recognize the phone. the only thing i can think of is it is physically damaged somehow but it was working fine one minute, 10 mintues later its a paperweight.

assuming it is not phyisical damage are there other things i could try to at least get it talking to my pc so that i can attempt to restore a previous os?

    thanks.

Sounds like something fried with the device. Even with a bad OS, the device should at least light up. If NOTHING lights up, its not even trying to load the OS (good, bad, or bombed), so sounds like something Verizon will have to fix.

Maybe a dumb question but has happened before.
    Is the battery charged?

Doesn't sound like an OS issue more like a hardware issue or dead battery.

OP stated he tried to plug it into the charger and computer with no response from the device. There isnt a delay between when the device is plugged in and when the device responds if the battery is totally dead is there? I know some bluetooth devices operate like that.

Maybe a dumb question but has happened before.

the battery was around 80% charged this afternoon when i last checked. so unless the meter was way off i assume there's still plenty of juice in the battery i also have had it plugged to the charger for some time now to no effect.

the only thing that bugs me is i had just upgraded the os and now it's dead... a little too coincidental..

I had the same problem with my curve. I had to get a new battery. some how the battery was not letting my phone connect to DM. You should first try to unistall DM and install again. Hope this helps.

    Coincidences happen. :-D

my laptop stopped booting right after installing a windows patch, so i was SURE it had to have been the patch, right? turns out the hard drive had either moved enough that it wasn't making proper contact, or the contacts had gotten just dirty enough, but reseating the hard drive made everything work again.

i'm on the hardware problem bus on this one.

Let's try to eliminate a bad battery.
    1) Pull the battery out and place it on a shelf out of sight and mind.
    2) Use your USB cable and plug it into the phone and PC
    3) Try t connect with DM
    4) Try to boot the phone while running power from the PC
    5) Still dead? Go get the battery and call Verizon for a warranty exchange of the phone..
    6) Not dead? Go get the battery and call Verizon for a new battery

#4 won't actually work w/o a battery, but he should get see the screen light up with a picture of a battery with a circle around it & a line thru it to indicate the battery is not installed.

You are correct but we could have eliminated one variable. Sound like the OP has a trip to big red in his near future.

I updated to .148 and it worked fine for a day. But the next morning I woke up I checked my emails and after that suddenly screen turned blank. i tried battery pull but of no use. I connected to laptop even then my led lit up and then blank again. But after sometime..screen was white with "software error 503".

But luckily I could load OS again but I went back to .141. it is ok now..
