I'm one of the lucky ones that still has my original Storm, which works flawlessly. Sort of... Apparently my phone is smarter than I am, and just starts the media player whenever it wants, picks a random song from my media card, and starts playing it. The phone can be in my pocket, or sitting on the table. It has done it 5 times today. I make sure the media player is closed, done the battery pull, etc, etc. I'm crossing my fingers, but it seems to have stopped for now.

    Anyone else have this issue?

    Two things...

    1) Make sure you exit out of the Media Player by hitting Menu/Close when not in use.
    2) Make sure you're on the latest OS for the phone.

I didnt know about this, until one day at work (i was a waiter) i hit it accidentaly while getting a pen from my pocket. in front of my table, they heard porn (does it for video too)...

so yeah, it could be the mute button

Thanks for the replies. In response to your suggestions, I always close the media player by using menu/close, in fact, I rarely use it. In addition, I usually keep an eye on what is open by holding the BB button to see the open program list. Also, I am running the latest software.

As far as the mute button on top, I manually tried it and it does not open the media player. It has done it twice today again. Both times with the phone locked. Once it was in my shirt pocket, the other time it was sitting on the table for about a half hour, then just started playing.

    Any other suggestions?

At one time I think I remember reading that some 3rd party app was triggering this as well. Could be mistaken about reading that, but can you list your 3rd party apps anyway?

Here are the Apps I have installed:

    Beyond 411
    BlueSlate Converter
    Bones in Motion
    Calorie Counter
    Free Tips
    Google Maps
    Google Sync
    Opera Mini 5
    Pattern Lock Lite
    Personal Assistant
    Quick Launch
    Quick Pull Free
    UPS Mobile

Now that I look at my app list, it makes me think. the last two apps I installed were Quick Pull Free, and UPS Mobile. Maybe I will uninstall them to test.

When i meant hitting the mute button, I meant that the media player has to be open in the background. Im sure you close it, but sometimes when my media player is on, i hold the back button, and it doesnt close it. When its locked, i might press the mute (or maybe not locked?) and it will reactivate it.

Hope you find out what is is sooner than later!

Did you ever get this solved? Just had one of my employees tell me this was happening to him.

This happens to me when I have my Bluetooth in my pocket still connected and I accidently press the mute key. The media player will then play through your music at random. it's just a "hidden feature".

Nope. Never solved it. I've pretty much given up. Hasn't done it in a few weeks though.

I'm having this problem too. It happened a while ago, went away on its own, now it's back again. Tried the mute while on Bluetooth but that's not it.
