Not sure about downloading, but I use Cucusoft Video converter suite to move my DVDs to a Mpeg4 format. It takes about 30 minutes per movie but the quality is nice. You can adjust the quality of the file. I used it a lot for my Ipod touch and moved a couple over to the Storm. $30 for the software. Here's the website if your interested.
