I have an IS on my storm. Yesterday, the microphone connection in my headphone jack stopped working so I figured it would be worth it to get another phone.

My question is, am I going to have to buy a new IS, or can i remove it, wash it, and reapply it?

You'll have to get a new one. Whether or not they'll replace it, I'm not sure. I'm not the biggest fan of IS, I'm thinking about going naked.

You'll need a new one, but they'll replace it for you.

I just had to do the same thing. If you call, they'll send a whole new kit out to you for free, but will charge 3.95 shipping. Usually you'd need to return the used pieces to retain your warranty, but since this is your first time there's no need. At least that's how it worked for me a few days ago.

When I did it it was my first time, and they had me mail it back but I just sent it in a regular envelope so it just cost the price of a plain old stamp. That was a couple years ago though.
