I've read that you want to use 1XEV to save on your battery life, so it won't be searching for other networks.

    On Verizon: 1X
On any other US carrier: GSM/UMTS
    Traveling abroad: Global

if you are on verizon the only option inside the US that will give you ANY connection is 1XEV. GSM for carriers like AT&T/Tmo and Global for anything outside of NA

1XEV is CDMA which verizon uses. GSM is att/tmobile and in Europe. If you set to 1XEV it will only look at Verizon if you set to gsm it will only look for that signal. Set it to global it will use 1XVE or gsm looking for1XVE first. If you are not going to use a unlocked storm or traveling to europe set it to 1XVE to save battery and prevent the sim error
