What is the limit on the size of the microSD slot. Verizon is including an 8GB one, but will it support larger cards?
Thanks
I have mine pre-ordered for a Saturday Shipment.

it will hold a 16gb
anything bigger than 16gb is pretty damn expensive anyway
Thanks, I know they are pretty expensive. ScanDisk does have a 16GB one for 105 at crucial.

definitely getting one of those when i get my storm.
Can it go larger than 16 though?
The OS supports 32 GB, but until 32 GB cards are available, that doesn't mean a whole lot.
$55.99 from newegg and free shipping.
1st CB post...w00t?
Does anyone know if a Class 6 card is any better on the Storm or is it just a waste of money?
Thanks
Waste Of Money!!
Hey Guys Am Running On Os 4.5.0.77 And The Guys At Bestbuy Told Me That The 16gb Would Not Work On My Bb Curve 8330 Only The 8gb And So Far So Good Even After Looking Up The Info, So Far I Can Put Like 3-4 Movies, Lots Of Pics And Music And Still Have Like Almost 4gb Left On It. And When I First Put My 8gb Card In My Bb And After I Formated It It Read Like 7.3gb I Think They Take A Little Space After U Format It But It Works Great. Thanks For The Info Guys.
Oh Really. Why Do People Type Like This?Posted from my CrackBerry at wapforums.crackberry.com
It's Fun To Push The Shift Key Every Word. Um, I Guess?
I would update your OS to 4.5.0.138 then you can use the 16 GB card in your curve.

I've found the thread that shows O/S versions vs. Microsd capacity limits but I want to confirm this is the only limit. I distinctly recall being told when I bought my Storm that it had a given limit (8gb as I recall) and other Blackberrys had smaller or larger limits. So.. am I to understand the size is ONLY limited by the O/S version the phone has onboard? I just want to confirm this before I go buy the max limit. I have a Storm and a Tour I'm working with here and want to max out the memory on the Tour.
This is because hardware manufacturers usually calculate storage size units by powers of 10 (decimal), whereas traditional definitions of data storage are based on a binary system.
For example, using a binary counting system:
1 gigabyte = 1,024 megabytes (2^10) = 1,073,741,824 bytes (2^30)
Most computer operating systems calculate device storage in this manner.
Hardware manufacturers (among others), commonly use the more "easy to follow" decimal system of unit conversion:
1 gigabyte = 1,000 megabytes = 1,000,000,000 bytes
This is usually why a drive's advertised size is almost always larger than what is actually displayed in the drive properties by the computer, or in this case BB.
Regardless of whether you call it 8GB or 7.3GB, it still ends up being ~68,719,476,736 bits
