Micro USB car charger specs: some not charging!
Can anybody explain the ins and outs of USB chargers to me?
I'm assuming there's a 5v connection and a 12v connection, and I'd like to know what the Storm needs to charge.
I didn't spring the $30 for the official bulky Verizon charger, assuming one of my other Micro USB chargers would work.
One is simply a 12v cigaretter lighter adapter with a USB port on the other end, sold for charging a Playstation or Gameboy. It works great charging my USB MP3 player.
The other comes from a Jabra speakerphone kit. It's two pieces: a 12v adapter like above, with a USB to micro USB cord that plugs into the speakerphone.
When I plug either of these into the Storm (or, alternately, if I plug the Storm's included USB to micro USB cable in to either), the phone stops responding and sometimes the little "thinking" clockface pops up. The lightning bolt never shows up. The phone begins responding normally as soon as I disconnect the charger.
Since Verizon's chargers are "generic" (non-Storm specific), what do they have in them that my others don't?
