I loaded about 1GB of MP3s to the microSD card over USB and let the media player complete it's scan after disconnecting the device from USB. I then queued up about 20 songs and noticed as I got further into the playlist queue the garbage collection spinning clock icon would appear long and longer between each song as the playlist changed songs. I then checked the memory free space in Options > Memory and found that it had fallen from its normal 40MB (I deleted VZ Nav, Word Mole and other stuff I don't like earlier on to get the memory up to 40MB free) had fallen to 9MB by the time I was 13 songs into to 20 song playlist and the device was virtually unusable as every click of the menu or screen took 45 seconds to process.
For the record, I was doing nothing else at all on the device while the music was playing.
