"Enhancement to prevent the device from the intermittent occurrence of returning to 1XEV after automatic reset when the mode preference is set to 1X. " - Thats from the change log...

I've always wanted to select a 1X mode.... I always loved that on my LG's... its in the service menu...

Now if anyone asks "why do you want to do this" or anything why... this is why.

I am always in a fringe area when it comes to EV reception... If i want to get online or send a picture message or PRETTY MUCH ANYTHING WITH DATA services... it always take FOREVER to do it, because it trys to use the EV... even though i would have great 1X Reception...

So, how can I? It says its possible.... and i've seen it in the Storm Simulator...

Try setting ur connection to 1XEV instead of global under manage connections. Hopefully this works.

Well that will force the phone to only search for CDMA signal.... but what i'm trying to do is force the 1X only mode..... which the change log refers too...

There isn't an option for 1X. I think that's what the OP is trying to say. The only options are GSM, GLOBAL, or 1XEV.

wolf, network selection doesn't have 1X only...

    My phone must be special:

So, like I was saying... Options > Mobile Network > Set "Network Selection Mode" to "1X Only"

Network Technology will still say "1XEV" but it will stay in "1X".

Edit: You need to set "Network Technology" to "1XEV" before you will see the "1X Only" option.

Maybe it's just a Verizon Wireless problem. I cannot just select 1X either, and I notice you are on Bell's network.

We don't have that on Verizon. I'm sorry. I have my phone set to 1XEV, and the only other options are Home Only or Automatic. Verizon does not have the options that you have with Bell.

It's all personal preference. I personally set them to:

    Data Services: Off When Roaming
Network Selection Mode: Home Only (Only Selectable when NT is at 1XEV)
    Network Technology: 1XEV

That way, I avoid all unnecessary roaming charges.

Hmm. Thats weird that verizon won't allow the 1x only mode... Thanks for the responses though!

But if you are paying for the data plan the roaming charges really should not matter

Does anyone know the advantages of home or E911 only?
    06-01-09 07:11 PM

roaming charges meaning like int'l roaming...they're additional charges. on top of what you pay.

home only will prevent using data outside of the VZW network, so it won't pick up other carrier's networks that aren't extended network.

and E911 is essentially how GPS started on phones. it's the ability for your phone to know where it is and route you to local authorities if you call 911...
