Took 20+ pictures consecutively and didn't get a save error ... maybe we should start a .90 .103 .106 hybrid findings thread ...
I had one pic that didn't take... but since then it has been fine... so perhaps it is only very rarely that this happens...

I tend to take a lot of pics... and the wife laughs at me when they don't save.. So hopefully it works right...

Thanks for the help - ok.. here is what I did and it seemed to bring it back up.

Had the 507 error - went into Apploader through EXE.. and I got the error I mentioned above.

I then decided to remove (from Add/Remove programs) .90 and .106 - but leave the frank'd version of .103.

So I then went into DM, and went through Apploader that way. My laptop was connected to the internet so it found .64 and .65 as well as .103.

I chose .103 - it went through the whole load and loaded up the frank'd version of .103. When I go to ABOUT - it says I am running .106! Does this mean I have successfully injected the necessary files from .106 into .103
Still getting everything back up running - so no results to post yet.

Sounds like you did it correctly

anyone notice the landscape keyboard shows in all caps? ... Not saying that the text entered is all caps, just the buttons themselves.
All storm keyboard keys have always been all caps, as far as I know. You sure yours was ever different?

hehe I take a lot of pics as well ... I've been trying to get it to crash or not save by changing image stab ... etc ... I cannot get it to do a single hiccup ... only problem I found so far is the video ... recorded ok, played well ... then i deleted it and my phone froze.

The "CDMA" file is not just the Radio file... it's the CORE OS file... more than just radio...
Meaning the .106 and .100 have more than a different version nr, likely a different platform nr?

Cause if it can be done on the 9530 with a 9500 106 file, why shouldn't it be able to do that with a 9500 on a 9500 file...? It loads for a reasonable while and then it crashes. Maybe I can connect with JLCMDer to get to the log file and see which module it errors on and replace that one with the .100 file.

I mean... I would expect the 103 from 9530 combined with 106 from 9500 to have problems in this case. Not the 100 from 9500 with 106 from 9500.

The dev teams are definately working miles apart...

The sfi file seems to be to blame... have you tried an 9500 sfi file older than .99?

im just wondering what would happen if you loaded the .106 radio code? i know the phone is gsm but would our storms not get any signal at all? im quite curious to see what would happen, if anything at all

and to what tjsears said, it will not load the 9500 .106 because DM can recognize that the phone you are loading with is a 9530 and not a 9500
I don't know the specifics, and am just speculating; but i'd think the 'radio code' would be the necessary hardware drivers and background services that interface with the part of the chipset that handles the radios. The .106 code probably lacks the neccesary software to access the CDMA radio. So short answer - It probably wouldn't work.

I am running the 103/106 hybrid on my 9530 with the 90 radio code. The system is responsive, the camera works and the color depth is good. I did get a return of the VSOD after a battery pull that required me to remove the media card. I haven't seen this error since moving from 99. Will keep testing. Memory does not seem to decline as rapidly.

Yes.. brings back the large fonts...
I have this running on my space Storm... works great... After removing the sample pics and VAD files I was at like 54MB of memory...

Oh... and I have only ever once had a VSOD on either of my two storms...
How exactly do you get rid of the sample pics? I would absolutely love to be able to get rid of some of those.

Navigate to your .90/.103/.106 hybrid directory (C:\Program Files\Common Files\Research In Motion\Shared\Loader Files\9530-v4.7.0.103_P4.0.0.131\Java) and remove the following file from the java directory:

    net_rim_bb_medialoader_backgrounds_360x480_t.cod

Then goto DM or AppLoader, and you will be prompted to "Downgrade"

A reboot later and you'll be sans sample pics...

    Cheers!

It will fix the colour depth yes. Cannot say you will have no other issues. It is still beta software afterall.
