Lost My Data Connection?
Hi all! I just came back today from the Dominican Republic, where I used my Storm's data connection whenever I could get sufficient service. The last day and a half of the trip though, I couldn't load anything on the internet and I assumed it was just that country not having service. I later found out that if I go to Manage Connections-->Service Status, it says BlackBerry Internet Service is not connected. As soon as the plane landed back in NY today, I checked and I have the same "no service" message. Basically one day I had internet, the next I did not. I'll probably call Verizon tomorrow but I thought I would try the CrackBerry geniuses first :D! Thanks in advance!

EDIT: Also means I have no e-mail, if that wasn't clear ;).

Hey Jeff. Unfortunately, this seems to be a totally random, small occurance. I lost data connection, e-mail and internet all at the same time. 2 days ago. This is terrible, and I cant get anywhere calling Verizon. I waited on hold for over an hour last night, with no progress. Still no data.
Please if anyone has any updates, please let me know.
Jeremy

Thanks for your response. Really how odd that it happened two days ago to both of us. I will call them tomorrow and keep you posted ;). I've also tried pulling the battery and what little things I could think of. Of all the problems to have, data connection problems are just the most boring :).

Did you try deleting the browser icon from the service books, and also re-program your phone... along with re registering your host routing table? What about re-sending your service books?
-
Could you please walk me through a few of these :D? Thank you!

search for resending your service books...its a pretty easy fix, that most likely your issue.

This is through the BlackBerry website? Because I may have forgotten my password (never remember creating an account!) and it tells me it was sent to my device, but voila, I have not received it, possibly due to my data network being down. Haha irony :D.

I had the same issue 2 days ago (odd coincidence there). I call VZW after numerous batt pulls, attempts to resend the service books that never arrived at the phone, registering via the host routing tables, *228 option 2, and finally *228 option 1. Doing the *228 option 1 got it going again but I don't know if vzw did something on their end as well.
After doing all of that I had serious issue with going to 1X instead of 1XEV and also had trouble turning off the mobile network connection under the manage connections issue. I downgraded to OS .75 after I got the data back up to solve the 1X issue and it is mostly working but sometimes goes back to 1X. The problem is that .75 is waaaaaaaaay slower then the .103 and 90/103/106 Frankenstein OS I was running just before downgrading to 75.
My connection strength constantly changes even though I am stationary (5 bars to 3 bars to 0 bars and back to 5) but that has happened with every OS I've loaded.
To register via host routing tables:
Setup/Advanced Options/Host Routing Table/Menu/Register Now
To resend service book from the phone:
Setup/Email settings/Log in with username and password/Menu/Service books/Send Service Books
You may not be able to do it this way as your data connection is down and you will need to to get access to this feature from the phone (I had this issue when I lost data) plus you will need to know your username and password.
Service Books via the web:
You can do it via the web for verizon at https://bis.na.blackberry.com/html?brand=vzw but will need the same username and password. If you never logged into this site before and try to register it will tell you there is already and accout for the device/PIN (at least it did the first time I tried). I had to call VZW and have them set up the username and password the first time I tried to log in via the web but I had never done it from the phone yet. I' completely new to the BB world and didn't know you could do it via the phone until after the fact, which I eventually learned here on crackberry.

Its happened to me on a few occasions, and for no apparent reason!
The first time I called vodafone and they created a new data account for me
The next couple of times I got sick of being on hold and did a wipe and reload.
That seemed to fix it but its a pain!

I lost my Data Connection once or twice before too. i went in to "Manage Connections" in the options and clicked "Turn all Connections off" and Turned on the Mobile Network and it Connected without a problem

Well that had an awfully simple solution. Called Verizon and they simply had me do the Host Options Register Now and then pull the battery and it worked upon restart. The woman also told me a new version of software should be coming out soon that will fix the random restart issue. Woohoo! Thanks all!
