Would you believe it !! needed to unlock it due to travelling, wasted too many MEP inputs, so I thought I would reset MEP count by wiping handset and re-istalling operating system....did backup on using BBSAK and Blackberry Software program...wiped storm...got "reload software" on screen...BUT on apploader I get message " Blackberry desktop sofware does not have device software for that device connected....."
and with BBSAK, Load OS button only brings up Blackberry's Apploader wizard, and when I point it to Backup.alx created by BBSAK, I get message this application not compatible with this device.

And I don't know how to use BBSAK to load saved data without it using Blackberry App Loader!!

yes 9520, there was a leak but file seems to have been removed from fileshare site.

Wow....freakin' crazy. Can't believe this is real. I agree with amojeba, what a waste. Seriously though, you have to look at a few things...

1) Why would you get unlock codes when the phone hasn't even been out more than 10 days? You should at least wait a month. I wouldn't even trust the most reputable unlockers and I've just checked their websites and they don't have Storm 2 listed yet.

2) If you knew you were going to be travelling so soon, you should have gotten a basic GSM phone to unlock.

I have my old curve, did not expect to get storm2 so soon..anyway, totally irrelevant points.

if someone can link me to any version of Storm2 OS tonight and I get my storm working, will PayPal 50 usd.

If not, no big deal, sales reps around my area not very bright, will just take it back and say it happened when I switched it on.

New to BB so silly question time, I take delivery of Storm 2 tomorrow, why would you need to unlock for travelling? I was under the impression a BB would work worldwide!

Unlocking for travelling isn't required for the phone to work, it is required to pick up a local sim card at your destination and pay local rates instead of international rates that your carrier would charge. Don't worry, for the average user this isn't required.

Make sure you go to C://program files/common files/research in motion/apploader and delete the vendor.xml. Once you do that, load the Loader.exe out of the apploader folder (do not run Desktop Manager !) and load the os.

The problem is, I don't have a copy of the original firmware on my pc, thats why when I nuked it, I did not have the OS to re-install...Chuckthepilot kindly found an OS for me to bring the phone back to life, however the Firmware version is older than the Firmware pre installed on the Storm 2.

Just wondered if I could re-download latest firmware officially through BB software, but keep getting message No new software available.

rai66...just a thought, since the 9520 is not OFFICIALLY out till tomorrow, you may wait it out till then and start checking back for the official OS on BB's site.
