Is there a good local search program out there? Like for food, movies etc.. Any based off of GPS?

VZ navigator does that for you. You can search for just about anything around your GPS location, along your route, or in your direction.

It also tells you the price of gas at the closest gas stations.

+2 for VZ Navigator. It's a lot more than a mapping app with turn-by-turn. It will find everything like movies, restaurants, events, and ATM machines based on your location. I'm still on the free trial but I can easily see getting $10/mo value from it.

google maps is SWEEEET for this! Find things based off of GPS or general search area. You can even call the place directly from their listing.
