- It seems LIP has a version 1.0. I tried to download this version by going to the LIP website, getting a text and following the instructions. I got the LIP Loader but when I ran it, it told me I was installing version 0.710 (the version I already have). Since updating to this version several functions have stopped working. When I select GPS I get an error that my mobile network is not set to on, but it obviously is. I can get to the BB Browser if I just try to do a search from the LIP home screen. Traffic, Nav, Cheap, etc no longer work, but Media, Net, News, and Search all work.
Any ideas??
Wait, I think the version 1.0 is actually the loader version. If that is the case than the 0.710 version no longers works for the Storm (at least for mine)01-16-10 05:14 PMLike 0 - Response from LIP
hanks for the feedback! As we tried to optimize WiFi connection with the 0.710 release, we came to realize that this optimization may trigger an OS bug in certain condition which will force the*internet to connect through WiFi even when WiFi is not available.
This issue is solved, please
*un-install current installation of LifeInPocket and Loader! Then install the new*build (same version number but different build time)*at
http://lifeinpocket.com/html/dlip.jad let us know if this does not solve your issue!
Thank you for your patience! We apologize for the convenience!
Best Regards,

- Can someone please help?I can't get this to work on my Storm with .419 and I have tried everything.I deleted the loader and downloaded the new loader from the link above. It says the loader has been installed and when I click on run,I get a white screen with a message saying "Error starting LifeInPocket:Module.....attempt to access a security API."Delete LIP then go to,Options>Advanced>Browser, set to Blackberry then download again.01-17-10 12:08 PMLike 0
- Delete LIP completely. Delete the loader from your downloads folder. Battery pull. Download loader from the above link. Install. Battery pull. Let us know if it works.01-17-10 01:02 PMLike 0
- I am an idi0t.On that screen that has the error message,it says download at the top.I clicked the menu screen and it said download so I clicked it and then it installed. All is well now.Thank you for the help.01-17-10 02:51 PMLike 0
- Well, now I don't know what to say. I tried using it today and when I tried to find my house on the Nav app, it told me the address could not be found. It keeps doing that to me, even though GMAPS has no trouble. I think I am about to delete.01-17-10 07:11 PMLike 0
- tried nav in LIP first time today. Thought I will test it out from my drive to PIT airport to home. here is what happened.
-took a while to scan satellites.
-located me in middle of Detroit( I was in Pittsburgh airport).
I know this is free..but definitely not user ready. and I deleted POYNT once I saw this has all the features.02-04-10 11:48 PMLike 0 - Edit: 02/15/10 update
************************************************** **
Our navigation will only tell you which way you should head for and street/direction you should turn. It won't tell you that you are "in the middle of Detroit".
This fake user quelloo apparently could never use LifeInPocket navigation because he probably lives near Calgary of Canada (LIP supports US only for now). Stop pretending quelloo , be honest, you need to disclose your affiliation.

Edit: We noticed that this user gulloo has made only 2 posts so far and they are all about LifeInPocket both were saying about the same thing!
Below are what real users said about LifeInPocket
I'm running .428 ... This app works great for me. Turn by turn works good you just have to pay attention. If you really need to see the map use the map feature and it will give you the full directions on either google or blackberry maps. For being free this app is awesome. The local search is better than poynt imo.

lifeinpocket is a sweet APP. used it the other day and love the Navigation system. Its a NAV with voice guided direction. I was shocked when I first heard the voice because I was anticipating it to be like Googlemaps with just direction only. The voice app tells when to turn and right at the point of turning says "turn right now".
Using it also for local food spots, or any other type of facility is even better than my car gps because it is updated on a real time basis. This thing even directed me to the cheapest gas station for the day in question. In other words all specs are updated real time.
This one is a keeper. My car has a gps so not necessary to use it all the while, but my wife loves it since her car does not have gps system.
Thanks lifeinpocket you rock!!
- Try it again if it works then it could be a deflection
- If you still get error, then your GPS may have hardware problem
Perform below test
1 make sure you are outside or in your car
2 go into options on your blackberry
4 click on status
5 type the word "test"
6 Hit the menu button
7 click start
8 check the check box for GPS
9 click run
Wait a few moments (usually it isn't too long. Then it will say successful if GPS works.
Edit: GPS accuracy is determined by GPS chip and firmware in the BlackBerry or Bluetooth GPS receiver, not apps. We do not claim LifeInPocket GPS accuracy is better or worse than other apps.Last edited by RoadComm Beta Team; 02-15-10 at 07:19 PM.
02-05-10 12:14 AMLike 0 - I donot have any other way to prove that I am a real user. My number of posts is irrelevant.
I had mentioned that I deleted POYNT after installing LIP. So it definitely has some good features. But I still maintain that the Navigation does not work in and around Pittsburgh region. So again it is not consumer ready. I have tried using it for couple of weeks now.02-15-10 03:37 PMLike 0 - I donot have any other way to prove that I am a real user. My number of posts is irrelevant.

If you are real CB user, you would provide detail information about your exact location for our mapping team to debug the map and you would perform GPS test and report the lon/latitude for us the see.
Made 3 posts completely different from other LifeInPocket users and nothing else is just hard to believe!
Report the detail of your location with detail address and route then we can help, otherwise CB users will only think your are under estimate their intelligence.

CB users are not born yesterday! They are smart enough to know your motive, who you are and the reason why you are so afraid of LifeInPocket.02-15-10 04:31 PMLike 0 -
We have tested many 3rd party nav apps and find them broke easily. The only nav solution can provide reliable moving maps is dedicate GPS systems because they have build in maps.
We will turn on moving map feature as soon as cellular network reaches acceptable reliability.
We have been in commercial market for over ten years and it's against our business philosophy to offer unreliable product.
If map is important for you, you can open LIP destination address BB/Google Maps and leave them on during navigation.
Please note that LIP is the only app implemented with power management, so it will last for days with one battery charge. LIP can last for up to 15 hours for continuous navigation but leaving Google/BB Maps on will drain battery fast.
For your information, some nav apps drained battery completely within one hour so if you forget your car charger, you will never arrive your destination.Last edited by RoadComm Beta Team; 03-02-10 at 10:52 AM.
03-01-10 10:38 AMLike 0 - I am having an issue with LIP. When select Bel Air, CA or any other city near there as My Location and then search for local attractions, tourist attractions it finds things in Virginia, Ohio, Indiana, New York, Oregon etc. It also brings up limo services and cab service, which don't really seem to be 'tourist attractions'. It doesn't matter what I search for locally, all the results are scattered across the country,
When I used my gps location as a location to search on things seem to work correctly.
The first time I downloaded/installed the app I use BB App World. I then tried going to the LIP website and downloading the loader and app, but results have been the same.
Any ideas as to why?
Posted from my CrackBerry at wapforums.crackberry.com06-09-10 03:33 PMLike 0 - Hi lilzeus,
Thanks for letting us know about this issue. Bel Air, CA seems to be a very small mountainous community near LA and it's possible the name "Bel Air, CA" not in our partners' database. When searching for something near "Bel Air, CA" the server may simply try to find similar city name in US.
If you search using GPS location then the database search will base on the geological location then yield correct result.
You can use our "Mark Location" features to mark your home and other often used location then use then to search for now so you can perform all the LBS in door and we will talk to our partners to narrow down the root cause.
You can email us at [email protected] in the future if you have any question so we can respond faster!

You got some rich relatives, Bel Air is a very expensive community. Our services return up to 20 results so it's up to the density of your search criteria.
If you search "State Beach" in Bel Air, you will probably returned with beaches up to 150 miles away.
You can use any address in your address books, marked location etc. to search so this will give you extended search distance with more desired results.06-09-10 07:30 PMLike 0 -
In the future, you may email us directly so we can response quickly because we rarely visit CB recently and we want to make sure we address users' issues quickly!
