look at the speaker at different angles, do you notice that the whole speaker grill is not open? all those little tiny holes for the speaker, it appears only the the ones on the right of the grill are open. left side looks like a film covering the holes. am i crazy or is this just my phone? could this effect sound quality?

The opening is only that portion because that is how small the speaker is. The screen is that big just to make it look nice.

most likely done to keep things symetrical. Probably could not have put the speaker in the middle due to hardware being there....../shrug

actually it's probably a good size for it. the whole speaker grill being open would probably make the sound worse.
