and i must say this was the nicest customer svc rep ive dealt with to date!

either way for starters..i told em that my device was acting up camera/laggy/dropped calls and wanted to know if there was anything i can do about it.

i knew the answers just had some time to kill and wanted to see what i can get from this mess.

so .. after speaking with the guy for about 10 min and him verifying all the issues, i will be getting a replacement device. Also he split my data pkg from my original purchase and made it..just about $22.00 cheaper per month.

so instead of my usual.. $99.48 per month with my 21% corp discount ( oh yea.. i took off vzw navigator as well, so thats an extra 10 bucks off ) its now and i quote "anywhere between $69.00 and $74.00 per month" not bad for unltd msg'ing ( txt and data ) and unltd internet.

THIS IS THE BONUS PART..READ CAREFULLY!

he explained to me that the new o.s. for all Storm's has already been released with the Verizon sister company "Vodaphone UK" and should be available here in the U.S. within the next 2 to 3 weeks at the latest. Again and i quote "from the other technicians he has spoke with all issues have been resolved, such as the ones which had me call in, ALONG with a few added bonuses thrown in from Blackberry and Verizon. Its as if the device has been overhauled".

    and thats all folks!
    over and out!

Ive always had GREAT customer service from Verizon. They have always taken care of me, regardless of what my issue has been. If you are nice to them, they will be nice to you.

Second, before you go and flame the guy, he is just reporting what the rep told him. He isnt saying an OS will be released or anything, just reporting back what he heard.

Youve got to think that something is coming in the near future though. Regardless of whether the reps have any concrete info or if it just hearsay, it sounds like something is happening at VZW in regards to a new OS.

I have a question about Verizon customer service. My BIS stopped being connected out of nowhere. It worked this morning. Should I load the official OS onto the phone before I call VZW support and seek their help? I've sent service books from the phone and the BIS site a few times, and I ran *228 options 1 and 2 and reset the phone and turned it on and off.

Well there is no sign of the Vodafone 9500 update for me as yet in the UK. So either they are dragging their feet by testing it or what he has told you is total rubbish. According to their forum they have not mentioned anything about the new release either for their (including me) UK customers.

I would call RIM tech. THey seem to be much more knowledgable when it comes to BIS. I was on the phone for a couple hours last night to figure out my BIS and RIM helped out a bunch. I have ATT but I assume the level of competence is about the same across the board.

for the record im not flaming him, but how many storm users do you think have called in asking about new o/s's if i was a service rep i'd just be making that up to shut up all the whiney bastards calling up all the time. thats good your getting a new device though, the only thing that makes your post different than all the rest is he said the new o/s is out for vondaphone. I've been happy with the betas but it'll be bad *** to have the official release :P

It's not been released by vodafone yet. If it had I would have it.

Verizon (call center) reps have always taken real good care of me, but like everyone here already knows, we usually know more than they do when it comes to "real news" happening on their OS releases. I'm just glad there's forums like this that a person can turn to.

isn't .113 out officially for the 9500? That would be an update for us since we're still on .75 "officially"

I would have to concur. I too talked to a VZW rep this afternoon and the impression she gave me is a updated OS for the Storm will perhaps be released soon.

Isn't it obvious? They released an update for Vodafone and I'm sure it's RIM that did the work, not Vodafone (I'm not an expert in this area so correct me if I'm wrong). If RIM went through all that hard work to correct issues with previous OS, then I'm sure they are tweaking the new OS to fit Verizon's specs right now, which by the way, shouldn't be too difficult. I'm sure Verizon OS update is coming soon but when...

Also, I call VZW often and 90% of the time, I get great service. Nothing compared to Cingular (I don't know about now but before they switched to AT&T) and Sprint...

I've watched these forums for ages and learned allot from them. I am a Storm owner on a second round of frustration with the device. Called VZW and like most said here, received awesome customer support. I've tried various leaked OS's/settings and what-not and finally came to the conclusion..i'm tired. VZW went out of their way to keep a good customer and worked out an acceptable deal for me with a Curve. I love my BB, but the Storm (which has awesome potential) was too much like work for me. With that said, I hope the next update/or Leak is the magic bullet for you guys and wish you good luck! I'll be in the Curve forums.

The rep was just trying to make you feel better after you went off about all your problems. They honestly don't know about all that software stuff. I worked for them for 3 years and software updates just suddenly showed up. There is no way they can know about all that stuff you mentioned, they have to focus on customer service, call time, hold time, etc. All i'm saying is don't relay on what that rep told you. I use to bs with customers all the time just like they did with you.

After reading all of these threads on the official OS, I have to think...What if this new OS is nothing more then BS like .75..I have this feeling that people will be more happy with thier current hybrids then with whatever Verizon decides to shoot out as an official...Look at .75, and that was a launch OS for goodness sakes..If they were willing to throw that out with the launch of the phone, who's to say they wont low ball us again with some BS OS..
