Yea I'm running 607 coming from 320 and I just now discovered the popup keys. Pretty useless but w/e. Idk why I even decided to make this a thread but have fun reading it.

At first I was like "Oooh! that's neat!"...then I tried to actually type a message. Didn't like it at all, there was just too much going on and I started making more mistakes.

I type fine with the keyboard the way it is, but it's a nice feature to have I suppose for some people.

I left it on mostly because I did not want to take the time to turn it back off. I type fast enough that the letters are just a blur.

I guess when typing a password, it is a little easier to make sure you are pressing the correct letter though.

I am in the same boat as you. I find the pop-keys useful for putting in passwords.

Wait a minute, pop up keys have only just been available since .607 for the 9550? surely not...

I agree that the pop ups are helpful when you're inputting a password. I also found them helpful when I first got my S2, since it was my first touchscreen phone.

They are available in 451, and I'll bet they're in 428 as well. OS 419 for S1 had them.

    Options > Screen/Keyboard > Show Key Indicator

You can set it to Never, Touch and Hold, or Always.

Cool, I didn't see that option down there, but of course it was.

    Thanks.

Yea I just didn't like it because I never really looked at the keyboard. I look at where I'm typing. The popups distract me sometimes. I mean the keys never pop up when I used my pearl and I could type fine.

Anyways, thanks to all for reading and contributing to my useless thread. It really means a lot to me. I'll never forget this.

Is this a joke? The pearl has physical keys. of course there can't be any pop ups.

No joke. Why do you need pop up keys? Just because its available? I'm sure you got along fine with a physical keyboard before your storm.

geez, u missed the point! since there COULDN'T be any pop ups on a physical keyboard, why did you claim that you didn't "miss them" on one?? apples to oranges between your pearl and a storm.

I don't find the pop up keys useful BC I type way to fast to look at them, but I do have it turned on.

For password input, pop up keys are super useful, IMO. For fast typists such as yourself, I'd grant that they are useless.
