does anyone know what or how i can get a isilo or pdf reader for my storm need to put some work stuff on my phone
Docs to go has a PDF reader, the only one i have heard for sure works
there is now a beta isilo for the storm out. I have downloaded it, but haven't installed any books yet. this will be extremely beneficial for those people who used to use this wonderful reader on their palm (as long as it works.)
I "have" a scrolling pdf file of a nuclear well log that the onboard reader does an awesome job of pan, zoom, and scroll. I emailed it to my phone as an attachment. QUESTIONS: Where is this file ? Does each viewing entail going thru an Exchange Server one more time ? Will we eventually "have" such files on our Storms where a local reader can crack it open and view it anytime ? How can we show such pdfs to clients without actually giving them a copy, by say, a BRIGHT / CLEAR projection system ?
Docs2Go Premium Edition offers a pdf reader.
Beamreader is on the OTA thread.
Has worked very well for me.
The best option I have found with the onboard, "nerfed" Docs-To-Go is to set it to mass media mode, drag and drop the files onto the media card, then turn mass media off and open through Docs-to-Go. I am desperately looking for an alternative to Docs-to-Go, it is all but unusable in its current form. I'll have to download the iSilo beta and try it out.
I don't have any issues opening PDF's you should just be able to download the e-mailed attachment & open it. There is a PDF reader already BUILT in to the Storm OS.
I have PDF files that are too big to email and download? any suggestions?
I have worked with the Beam Reader (licensed it) and the built-in PDF viewer. They both render the PDF document splendidly, unless you really want to read it on the smaller screen. For that reason, I use the Repligo Reader, which does equally well rendering the full image, but also contains a 'reader' mode that moves the text into a single column.
As for getting the large PDF files onto the Storm? You will need to use the Mass Storage mode, where the Storm SD Card appears as a drive on your PC. I keep a folder link on my desktop with documents I want to move to the Storm SD Card and I just use a small batch file to move from the PC to SD Card\Blackberry\Documents (if my memory serves me correct), where the PDF reader picks them up without issues. This may work for you.
However, keep in mind that the bigger the file, the more problem you may have opening it on the Storm. There is a reason why they cap file sizes.
For what it's worth...
I am trying the Premium Docs 2 Go. Got tone on xls, doc, and ppt. Still cannot open a pdf file that was dragged-and-dropped onto my Storm versus sent as email attachment. Anybody getting this to work ?
After the smoke cleared from installing D2G premium, I now find I can no longer open ANY pdf files, zip, nada. The problem is that the pdf software modules were not included in the download/install. So, now, I cannot do what I used to be able to do with the default D2G. Help ! Is this part of "the deal" to get me to buy ($70) versus try premium D2G or simply cockpit errors ?
My bad: downloading the trial version of premium D2G is a TWO STEP process: after registering your baseline copy of D2G, open any xls, doc, or ppt file and push the BB button to request a trial copy of the premium version of D2G. After you feel comfortable with this installation looking at xls, doc, and ppt files, AGAIN open any one of them and again push the BB button to request a trial of PDF To Go. Good luck! I dragged and dropped the Storm pdf manual onto my Storm and so now I'm doing what I need to do more of: RTFM !

RepliGo works well, and it will open files from the media card. However, putting files on the media card needs to be done through the Media Manager - if you use mass storage mode, files don't show in the BB file system.
