No it should not disappear. Although now that I think of it when I got the insurance they said all I had to do was use the phone occasionally. I guess this confirms that the phone actually works and you are using it. Not sure how long you could leave it unused before they might drop you. Its best to call them and ask.
I have the same ? I pay 5 a month when I had my curve I got my storm 3 days later and I never got around to finding the answer

To answer the original question, the insurance applies to the active phone on the account, so if you take the storm off then break it, you're SOL. It will not be covered.
I would call and get the correct information. At least someone can look at your account and based on all of the factors can tell you what is covered and what is not.

Insurance requires you to activate a brand new phone within 15 days in order for it to be covered by insurance. Is the phone you are putting on the line as a replacement to the Storm a brand new device? Was it purchased within the past 15 days?
I ran my Storm over with my car and i needed to activate my old Alias so I had a phone. The woman at the Verizon store said that if I failed to file the insurance claim before activating the Alias I would have been SOL. So for future reference DON'T ACTIVATE A REPLACEMENT PHONE UNTIL THE INSURANCE CLAIM IS FILED!!!
When you put a new phone on the account that is now covered on the insurance...the old phone you took off isn't....the way people have been getting around the 15 day thing, is they call and say "I got this phone from my friend, and want to put it on my account" once they do that...thay call asurion...get a replacement sent, and put their old phone back on...I've seen it done many times in the last few months..I work at a verizon store, and watched a customer do it right in front of me..I sctually saw someone do it with his friends 8830(world) which retails for $519, and then switch back to his kyocera 444s (which retails for $75) and he got the phone...the thing you hafta remember is that you can only use the insurance 2 times in 12 calander months. But if you do a *228, and choose option 3...no matter what phone you put on there it transfers the insurance.
That sounds more like the insurance stays on the account, that doesn't mean that it has to be honored.
If they keep accepting payment, they have to honor the policy. Period.
I had an Insurance issue with them last year and the Insurance is for the current phone or phones on your account. The one thing I did was to buy a beat up Palm Treo on ebay for a few dollars and then activate it, followed by a claim which netted me a New not refurb unit hehehe. Your mileage may vary but this method does work as long as you can activate the unit they don't care where you buy it.
im pretty sure that the line you currently have the ins. on is where it stays and what ever phone is on that line is the phone that will be covered .
correct...it's "Line" insurance...not phone...doesn't matter what phone you have on there, as long as you have the insurance. I've seen on multiple occasions where someone buys a broken phone for next to nothing, puts it on their account, calls asurion, then 5 min later puts their old phone back on. When they get the new (refurb) phone they just activate it, and poof it's done. There's also a bunch of ways around the whole "No insurance after 15 days" policy too. If you do any type of price plan change on your account...and I mean anything. It give you the option to put insurance on...regardless of how long you've had the phone.
Who is "they"? I think that the OP would be better served by calling and finding out what the policy is. So far, most of the answers here suggest insurance fraud and that is never a good "policy".
This can be verified? I had insurance on my LG voyager but when I got my storm I never got around to calling them.. so I shouldn't have a problem?
I guarantee you that unless the store rep (if you bought the phone at a store...not online) screwed up you account then the insurance transferred. If you did *228 to switch it...insurance switched, and if you bought it online it asks if you want insurance.
