So you're saying that you're in your 30's at least, and you haven't matured enough to not troll internet forums?!?

My guess would be too many eaten paint chips as a child.

You are spreading this "truth" to people that don't care.

I went in Best buy today in Reynoldsburg, Oh near Columbus to buy a new case for my tour. I asked a phone rep about the 4g EVO & he was telling me a Sprint rep was in today with one & let him play with it. He said he had to give it back because it made his phone look like crap (his excact words) I asked him what phone he has? He said Storm 2. I honestly am not bashing anyones storm, I havent owned one, just not into the touchy magical phones, just telling you what he said.

I lost my S2 for a few weeks and picked up an HTC Eris in the pinch since they were pretty cheap. I def noticed that using the phone in direct sunlight with the brightness turned down is a real pain. All the colors are washed out compared to my S2 that I just recently found again. The S2 on lowest brightness works great inside and out. Sure there are way more free apps and OS2.1 is great with flash lite and webkit. The screen, in my experience, was just not sensitive enough. Even rooted and OC, the Eris was only a bit quicker than the S2. I may end up trying the incredible just to see what's up but losing the S2 and having switched and used Android for a few weeks still hasn't made me want to leave RIM too badly.

But how was the battery life?

Posted from my CrackBerry at wapforums.crackberry.com
From just what I used over a 4 hour peroid I was fine. I only made two calls just hear the clarity. But I was on it the whole time checking out what I could do including internet speed, camera, and everything else. For that the battery barely moved.

I turned on the 4G "just to see if it worked", but the network is not online yet. I do not know if there is an added drain to use it.

I would have to honestly say that I did not give it a real world test (and my friend won't let it out of his site) because I needed at least an hour or two worth of calls int there.

I am curious as per the claim of Flash working on HTC EVO 4G since it is running Android OS 2.1. Full flash will be available on Android OS 2.2 but it has not been released. Are you sure about that claim?
Absolutely. Our website (The OFFICIAL website of COPS HELPING COPS) has a flash logo. I have not seen a phone show it until now.

I will say that I did try it on the HTC hero running the new 2.1. It loaded it, started to play it, and then it ran out of usable memory. On the EVO phone It played flawlessly. If you want I did take a video and when I get home, I can upload it. I will say that my Storm would not take the video clearly so its a little blurry, but you will certainly get the idea.

I also went to other websites with flash. No issues at all. Also, the sharpness and clarity are amazing.

For those that have commented, Im not trying to "troll" or however it is put. Everyone on here posts information, both good or bad.

As far as relating it to the Incredible....The screen is almost twice as large as the incredible and even faster with more memory.

After using the EVO, my BB felt old, tired and outdated. The internet is so slow I feel like I went back to dial-up after trying FIOS. And again, flash on a phone is very cool.

As far as email goes, I tried an an old AOL account, hotmail, and a regular work email (not like a corporate exhange or anthing). It worked fine and when I did a test the email was received almost immediately.

As far as business exchanges or corporate emails, I do not know the answer to that. I do not have access to even test that out. Maybe someone else can provide that information.

As far as a screen in "direct sunlight"....I don't know what people are using but BOTH phones are hard to see in diect sunlight until the screen brightness is increased.

The ability to use mulitple applications at the same time is the same. As a matter of fact I loaded every app the phone had on it and there was no lag with them all running (I had just under 10 that I downloaded and tried). But the best feature was that I could use them all WHILE ON THE PHONE!!!! Thanks to VZ, you can't do that on your phone.

And also, thanks to VZ, the new google maps is very cool. Voice prompts. Different screens. You have to see it in action.

But the most visually stunning program that I loaded and could not believe how well it worked was Google Earth. It was nothing short of amazing. And I could not believe how fast it was and, again, I wasn't even using 4G. My BB can't do that.

The Icons and screen are sharp. My storm looks like Im looking at icons from an old Atari system in comparison.

Again, Im not bashing. I did really like the storm. It had great ideas. But, like most, I got tired of swapping to a refurb. I do not know one person that has not had to swap out a storm. Im sure there are, so before people start going "I have one", you are a rare breed.

Rim needs to upate, stop using cheap parts, do MUCH better quality control, and get with the program. Yea, your "push' works great. So what? What are they gonna do if this phone (or another) does corporate exhange? What will people want?

Now the one thing I do still like and its tough to give up is my BB messenger. However, Im sure in the app world I'll find something that works. There are the others (yahoo, AIM, messenger). I never used the on my BB because of messenger, so I can't say how I will like them on the EVO, but it has them.

And remember....FREE APPS!!!! FREE WEATHER thats really nice (even nicer than Berry Weather (which I think is a nice program)), but $10???? Tether Berry or PDA Net...$50???? NO.....ALL FREE. WSOP Texas Holdem...FREE. As a matter of fact 99% of all the apps on Android are FREE. And nothing beats free. Keep in mind, these aren't trials "listed as free", like in app world (that pisses me off). They are not half-assed programs. They all work fine....oh and did I mention...FREE!!!!!!!

Now I know this next part is VZ being cheap. But included is Visual Voicemail, TV, NAVIGATION (Sprint (not just Google Maps)). Your not nickle and dime'd to death.

So when people are telling me what their BB has to offer, and I understand It completely, what do you really have? Sure, back 30 years ago an Atari game system was the bomb. Today, It wouldn't hold a candle to a PS3 or an X-box. The name of this thread holds true. I have seen the light. And I dare any one here, once the 4G EVO phone comes out, to turn around and say how much better their Storm is. You will hold it in your hand and forget all about the loss of surepress and BBM.

The problem with the EVO is Sprint, the same problem the iPhone has with AT&T. I travel, a lot, and neither Sprint nor AT&T measure up. I have had both and recently. A kick **** phone that I cannot use nearly everywhere in the world would not cut it.

Android is exciting because of the rapid improvements and hardware flexibility. However, the rapid improvements point to it catching up. It will catch up and surpass unless both RIM and Apple release major updates.

Doing a few things great and not doing others is also something I cannot stand with Android today or the iPhone. My BB does everything I want, albeit with a crappy browser. Opera almost makes up for it, but not quite. I just cannot leap and lose some features.

I see my phone as number 1 a communication device: messages, phone calls, etc. BB wins hands down for my use right now, and Verizon has the best network coverage nationwide, hands down. I am not a Verizon fan, but darn I need my phone to work when traveling.

I am happy for all of you! I am so glad that you chose to go with a device with an operating system made by a company that has been sued over 40 times in the past year alone (do a google search on it) by people and COUNTRIES for unauthorized data storage, invasion of privacy, data theft, unauthorized data usage, refusal to release data to police agencies both local and international, refusal to delete data collected, unauthorized data collection, data profiling, and the list goes on. This is very serious stuff and has gone on for 6 years or more. With a reputation like that and multiple public admissions of guilt regarding just about every Google program there is, I wonder what they are collecting from the phones they sell and how they will use that information. I am glad to know you are comfortable with that and can sleep well at night knowing Google is watching.

I have used a Storm 2, iPhone and a Hero for some time each and so I feel I am in a strong position to pass judgement. Just to give some backgrund, I very rarely ever want to view web pages on the device and mainy use apps etc.
I love the iPhone. It is easy to use, looks great, is fast, renders web pages very quickly and has a massive amount of apps to complient the device.
The Android operating system works well, but I have found it to be a shadow of Apple's system and the apps are not up to the same quality (although a vast amount are free). Also, I found that if you use Google services, like Mail and Calendar etc, it works very well, but is a bit lacking when using other services.
As I mainly use a device for calls and messaging (including Facebook, Twitter etc) I find the Storm does this brilliantly. Messages, emails etc are almost instantaneous. I know others have no problem with push notifications on the iphone, but I very rarely receive any push messages whatsoever. Also, the battery drain is so bad, I find myself recharging about twice a day. The Storm 2 does everything I need and rarely uses 2 bars.
So in rank order, my list would be:
    Storm 2
    iPhone3gs
    Hero

Not sure what you mean about Android getting their crap together with Exchange but...I setup a user at work on her HTC phone with Android 2.1 and it synched perfectly with Exchange. Sent items, calendar, contacts, etc excpet for Tasks and journal all synched. I should note that the HTC mail was used and that works perfectly with Exchange.

I have a Storm 2 and connected to a BES but I've been looking at the Droid Inc more and more....I've been a Blackberry user for over 6 years and I think it may be time to look at another phone. The blackberry interface has not changed much in the 6 years I've been using them and the web browser is slower than molasses going uphill.

The evo 4 looks sweet, as does the Incredible. But as someone else here wrote the storm 2 does all the things I need and it does them well. I run 2 businesses both on exchange server and my blackberry kicks it out with the corporate email, syncs my outlook calendar, tasks and memo's as well. Until the and if the I-Phone comes to Verizon or Android gets there crap together with Exchange server I'll be staying right at home with my Blackberry.

So the Storm2 is an Atari of 30 years ago? Wow. Okay. Thanks for letting me know. First it was an Escort, now it's an Atari. Guess you found the perfect device for you in the EVO. Apparently you NEED those free apps and games. The conversation should end there. The fact that you continue after declaring you're not bashing BlackBerry is interesting. No need to state the reasons for you decision. Just go. I have my reasons for staying with Odin, and nothing you say is going to change that (as I'm sure you were worried). Alas I grow tired of this tread, and won't be back. Good luck with, and enjoy your EVO 4G.

Wow...buddy. Relax. If forums get you all bent then take a few weeks off.

My relation to atari was how old the graphics felt.

As far as comparing the Hero to the Evo...let me be clear....even if your running the new 2.1 android....its still not close.

All I ask before someone goes on a tangent is to go test it out when it releases. You will understand then and see for yourself.

I'm also glad to hear the phone also works on business exchanges.

    Thanks

Just as I would consider it trolling to go into a iPhone or Android forum and start raving about all the things BBs do well. How would that help any of those communities and their users. It just ends up clogging up the threads and distracting the topics for no reason.

If someone really feels the need to talk Android or iPhone within Crackberry there are dedicated forums they can use to get it out of their systems.

And I couldn't agree more that there are always going to be better devices. Just the nature of the beast when technologies advance at the pace they do. All the more reason it doesn't really make much sense to compare a device yet to be released with one that's been in the market for over 7 months. In fact, if it wasn't better there would be major problems...

I've never understood why some people feel the need to defend their BB like it's one of their children. It's a brand of phone, nothing more. My last four phones have been BBs. Not because I love BBs. Only because they were the best phone on the market at that time.

Personally, I appreciate what current and/or soon to be former BB owners think of other phones, be they current BBs, forthcoming BBs or non-BB devices. Unlike reading about the EVO in the EVO forum, when people post about it here, we get a BB/S2 perspective on how the EVO compares.

Ironically, it's these comparison threads where I find the forum's primary value. Seriously, what other threads get posted here? User #32,108 who refused to either:

    A) Read the manual

    and/or

    B) use the Search function

Let's be honest, the only real reason these threads bother anyone is because people are annoyed that the device they're contractually obligated to continue to use has been usurped. In the meantime, we'll wait for OS6, assuming it comes to the S2 and then we'll end up frustrated (as we always do) when we have to wait for six releases of it, until RIM finally gets it right. And during that time, Apple and Google will continue to extend their lead.

So, keep these threads coming. I need to know what I'll be getting when my contract ends in November.

By that same token, I don't know why people need input from others to decide on what's best for them? It isn't rocket science. And its pretty easy to do research. In the end, it will come down to what the end user needs are.

These threads crack me up. Oh and I am one of those rare ones that hasn't swapped my phone even once. Never had a single problem with it really.

Bought a shotty app here and there but its not the phones fault. **** I have to believe most of the problems people have are due to their own handling of the phone but most won't admit that.

I love my S2 and will keep rockin the BB till something comes out that makes me want to switch. But then it will be because technology has advanced and not because there is anything wrong with my S2. It does exactly what I wanted it to do and so will whatever I get next.
