Is this true? Is it locked to 2100 by software? If it is, does it mean that RIM and VZ might be able to unlock it. They should be able to, but would they?
Almost certain to be constrained by RF design in the chipset for the transceiver. IOW enabling the other 3G frequency bands would be a complete hardware redesign.
But, I remember reading on Boy Genius's review that it was a software locked radio. It seems to be the same radio that's in the Bold. In order to make it exclusive to VZ 3g network, it seems that they locked the radio to prevent it from being used with another carriers 3g (at least here in the US). If it were software locked, I would love for RIM to unlock it.
