On Wednesday the 19th I stopped at the VZW store to check on what time they were opening, and was told 7am. I arrived at 5:15 am on Friday & was #5 in line. Once I arrived, I was told that the night before, corporate VZW, told my store that they couldn't open until 8am (At least thats the BS they fed us).

By the time the store opened at 8am, there was about 50 people waiting & only 30 units for the morning rush. I stopped back later in the day to buy a holster only to find too many people waiting while the computers crashed.

I'm glad I waited after witnessing the late day fiasco.

I went to the Verizon in BJ's.. There was no line, they had 5 employees waiting and 3 Blackberry Storm's to sell. took about 30 minutes total to get it and a nice holiday bag for my case and screen protectors. And this was at around 11am.

Arrived at Best Buy around 9:55AM release day. Was told that the computers were down and would be up again in around an hour. Started the check-out process as 11:30, and out at around 12:41. No lines to speak of, but they didn't have enough units to cover the pre-orders and there were some people threatening violence!

What is this 'appointment' bull****? That's like showing up to Best Buy on black friday and cutting the line because you made an 'appointment' to buy a TV. I could understand if VW was taking pre-orders w/deposits on phones, but appointments? Come on.

I must say the verizon store in Colonie, NY, Central Ave was fabulous! The staff came out and gave each of us numbers (I was #9) got all our information ahead of time. The entire process was seamless. I got to the store at 7:15, doors opened at 8am. It was freezing out, but worth the wait. The computer systems seemed to boggle down to null after the first few activations. But again, well worth the wait.

Much kudos to verizon in Colonie, NY. You did a wonderful job!

I arrived an hour before the store opened. Stood in line the entire time, there were 6 ahead of me, they had 10 phones. It was about 10 degrees outside, but the store employees brought out coffee for us standing in line, NICE! The store manager gave tickets to each of use that would get one, and spoke to others who wouldn't so they would not have to stand in line for nothing. Once inside it was a little over an hour to get the Storm, overall I thought the store handled the situation excellent. That is why I like Verizon!

Had read on Crackberry of the short supply Thursday. Scoped out two stores that night. One had 20 units. The other 110!

Showed up at the Annapolis, MD store at 6:30 for an 8:00am opening. I'm number 5 in the line. (The first guy got there at 4:30am). About 7:30, someone comes out from the store and passes a clipboard down the line for names and phone numbers.

Doors opened at 8. Don't have to mess with sign in at those dumb machines. They call my name after about 5 minutes. The guy who is doing the sale is obviously having trouble with the computer. He says "The system is gonna crash today". He sure called that one!

He gets me activated and I'm out in the parking lot getting the Storm to connect to the Bluetooth in my car by 8:30 am. No problem there. So, combined: 2 hours.

I was at the corporate store at 6:15 for a 8 a.m. opening in Roseville Minnesota. I was the 5th car. Since it was 9 degrees outside we all sat in our cars...until some woman pulled up and went to wait at the front door. That is all it took and we all had to get in line lest someone else came to get into line. . Standing in line, the manager came out and took our names to log us in. He saw that I was exchanging my curve that I had gotten 16 days earlier to exchange and told me that I would have to have one mailed to me, not storm for me! When inside I whined a little about if I had known that I wouldn't have stood outside in the cold for 45 minutes. No sympathy from the manager. Luckily as I told my story to the CS person, she gave me a wink and came back with a storm. Cancelled my account and started the whole process from scratch. Walked away with a new storm!! Very happy with Verizon.

Arrived @ 9:20 am at my local corp store... they had already sold out of their first shipment of 30.

Told us next shipment would arrive around 10 am... took our names & phone #s on a list. Went to Starbuck's, hung around store, etc.

New shipment of 30 arrived but computer system was offline by this time. I was finally able to leave with my Storm a little after 2 pm.

The store was super nice... they ended up serving us beverages and snacks. I'm glad I waited... I'm really liking the Storm!!!

Stood in line for 10 minutes, was #6 in line and left Verizon by 7:20.

went to store at 9 am sold out... (waited 2 min to find this out). Called verizon to order and they said I had to pay retail because my upgrade wasnt until 2010. Said forget about it. Went to this Christmas show (girlfriend wanted to go) and verizon had a tent there. The sales rep said "do you have verizon" I said "yes". What phone do you have he says and I told him the 8830 but wanted the storm. he said ok lets set you up. Long story short. In 30 min on 11-22-08 I had a storm in my hands calling people and payed $250 (not retail). This guy hooked me up big time. What a great company Verizon can be!!!!!!!

I'm in Manhattan and went to the 42nd St store, but they were sold out. So I ventured over to the Union Sq store and I waited for 6 hrs. Of course I never in a million years thought it would take that long (there were about 60 people ahead of me - appx 30 inside and 30 outside). BUT worth the wait!!!

stormrocks you shoulda went to the verizon wireless store across the street at circuit city (still union square)... they got 40... I got there an hour early @9 and was #3 and only waited an hour til it opened, and it took 30 minutes to get me in and out after that.
