1) Did you check for and (if present) delete the vendor file?
2) Did you change the name of the folder the .230 hybrid installed into in any way?
3) Did you recently (after your most recent PC reboot) install .191 (or whatever OS folder you're using)?
If I have an OS currently installed on my PC:
C:\Program Files\Common Files\Research In Motion\Shared\Loader Files\9530-v4.7.0.167_P4.0.0.205
Do I:
Go to control panel and remove software, then install the .230 file?
Or...NOT remove software for my previous OS and just install .230?
Or...delete the entire 9530-v4.7.0.167_P4.0.0.205 directory and install .230?
Or...delete the sub directories in 9530-v4.7.0.167_P4.0.0.205 and install .230?
All I did was copy the 5.0.0.230 over all the files that are at your C:\Program Files\Common Files\Research In Motion\Shared\Loader Files\9530-v4.7.0.167_P4.0.0.205
I then used BBSAK to reload the os which is going to be 5.0.230 because you copied over your other files. I a couple of things that dont work but am still playing with it.
Hey all, I've never had any problem installing an update or hybrid, as I follow the instructions to a tee. Same dilligence with this, however, loader has been stuck for 15 minutes on "connect to the device ROM". Phone went off during reboot and hasn't come back on. How long should I wait, and/or what should I do? Thanks.

had the same problem
never had a problem before, just cannot update to .230 for some reason
Perform backup, roll back to .151, download revo uninstaller and use the advanced uninstall procedure to uninstall any and all known instances of Blackberry OS on your computer, to include registry entries and left over files/folders, reboot, reinstall 151 or your preferred flavor, reboot, run the installer as directed from the walk through, UNPLUG FROM THE INTERNET, connect your blackberry, use either JL Cmdr or BBSAK and wipe completely, run AppLoader, restore from back up, unplug blackberry, reconnect computer to the internet.
I'm at the "wait for device initialization" section of the apploader wizard. The phone is turned on and is functioning with .230, including all of my previous apps... although I don't have any contacts anymore... more than likely because the "restore device data" section of apploader is after "wait for device initialization".
The apploader is saying "connecting to device" but has been like this for 30 minutes. I don't understand why it's still connecting since it's already connected.
When I try to install using the Desktop manager, I get the message that I need to have an "active blackberry subscription."
I have wiped the phone prior to the install.
Any thoughts
Yeah...don't use DM, use apploader, and make sure you delete the vendor file.
Oh an i think you might want to unplug your internet connection before installing.

No, this person should go back to the beginning of this thread and read it from the start as well as the .230 thread. The instructions aren't that hard to follow. This OS can be installed over ANY OS. Read my detailed explanation of why this is possible. However the instructions don't change.
yeah im having the same problem, waiting for device initialization, but its up and running. should I unhook it?
did yours eventually go to "Restore device data"? I'm on "Wait for device initialization" right now and have been for about 20-30 minutes. The progress bar is going up, albeit extremely slow. Also, it says "Connecting to device (This task might take up to 30 minutes)", so I plan on waiting a while.
If you run into the "My install froze on the "wait for device initialization" part and my contacts and messages never loaded..." problem. I waited almost 2 hours and it never loaded. Tried battery pulls while it was in the process, after the 1.5 hour mark, but still nothing.
I solved this and was finally able to get my contacts and message back onto the phone by loading Desktop Manager and doing the "Restore" option. Hopefully you told Application Loader to automatically backup everything. If you didn't.... then ummmm... good luck?
