I googled the 100 most frequently used words in the english language and began creating auto-correct entries for the storm's horizontal keyboard (Options -->AutoText).

I inputed approx. 3 - 8 variations/possible typos per word. For example, the word "THE":
    -RHE
    -THR
    -THD
    -YHE
    -etc...

I have already done (and attached below) the top 20 words and will add more as I find spare time. In the mean time, download this AutoText file. Use the BlackBerry desktop application and under the advanced tab, install this file into the AutoText directory.

I uploaded it here to this free online file share site, just click "Free Download" on the right hand side of the table:

    autotext_12_1.ipd

If you are interested in getting the remaining 80 words (ill post by the end of this week) email me at [email protected] and use the subject ADD ME.

Enjoy, let me know what you think.

Open up DM, select "backup and restore" --> then go to advanced.

The left hand window is the files from your PC. Under file, select Open. Choose the auto_text file.

Then check and un-check which items you want to be "restored" or sent over to the berry.

Let me know if this helped or if you need further help.

Is there an easy way to download this without using the DM? I don't use the DM so I'd have to do it straight from my phone

no need, once you spell a word and it remembers it, it will pop up next time you spell it. It remembers the word just like in T9.

Hey bball -- you may OR may not be correct.. Try this for example:

    1) use horizontal keyboard
    2) type "Appel" then space bar... It knows appel is spelled wrong...so click the underline and select the correct spelling to "Apple"
    3) now type Appel again! It still says appel (not apple)!
    it didnt auto correct

Did i prove my case? Or not?

Now try one of my words (if you have installed my data file).. "of"
-try typing "og" then press space bar to continue typing... it fixed itself to OF.
-try typing "od" then press space bar to continue typing...again it fixed itself of "OF"

Did you delete any of the orginals auto corrected words? You just added to the orginal correct.

I'm surprised more poeple are not posting in this thread as it is a great addition to the storm when composing.

When I tried this the only option DM gave me was to replace existing library which I assume I do not want to do. Is that what I want to do?

Great idea...yes you do replace the existing, OP is ADDING to that list - not replacing entries. Thank JBeck
