How do you put a file on as a ringtone instead of a song?

I don't want this file I'm trying to put on come up in my music area of the media app.

When you go into media theres music, videos, ringtones, pictures, voice notes

I want to put a file so it shows up in ringtones and not in music.

I tried making a ringtones folder and that didn't work.
