CrackBerry is Under New Ownership and Relaunching in 2022 Beyond BlackBerry - Read All About It!
How do you find the time to do this??????
- I Don't have children, but I recently bought my first house and the new storm at the same time. My question is, how do you guys find the time to read all this stuff to know how to fix your storms? I have the v4.7.0.141 platform 4.0.0.174. I am not really happy with all the quirks. So what is the best software to go with. I know I do Love my BBStorm and that it is way beyond a lot of the stuff I know. But I want to learn. Does anyone have some advice for the new guy? By the way I did read the "must read" for the new users, so I am trying to catch up. But for right now I need to get my phone right so that I can get on with my life for now until I have the time to do some reading up. Does anyone have any input. Thanks a lot.05-20-09 10:40 AMLike 0
- Read up on hybrids. There are a lot of tutorials on how to install a hybrid OS. The other option is shrinking your OS. You can do a quick search and you'll be able to find a number of posts that will help.
As for finding time to do these things...if you love your storm, you'll make time.05-20-09 10:57 AMLike 0 - I suppose you would have to define the quirks you are talking about so as to determine if they are hardware or software related. The best advice I can think of is just give it some time and youll get used to the way the blackberry works. I don't know if this is your first Blackberry or not but if it is you'll definitely start to see patterns in all the models and what not. One easy way to keep up with the goings on of the forums is to use crackberry mobile. It's quick on the BB's browser and is really simple to use. Not to mention it has lots of great OTA links for apps and what not. Oh, and as always search for your answers, don't be afraid to ask either though, and the majority of people here are more than willing to help.05-20-09 11:05 AMLike 0

- I'd be one of those 'play at work types'. My job doesn't keep my occupied all 8 hours of the day, so the rest of the time I spend reading the forums, catching up on the latest news etc etc.
If you're short on time, wait a few days after each leak and spend a little time going through the findings thread after people have had the OS for a few days. The first 24 hours are only good for the really obvious bugs, but things like battery life, the speed of the device and memory management take time to get accurate results.05-20-09 11:35 AMLike 0 - Wow you guys are fast and very helpful. I actually took work off today so I will be back and forth on the computer. I have had the curve and I really like it but I managed to put a crack in the side of the screen and I was able to pick up a relatively new curve and a almost new storm for 180 together. So I thought what a steal and an opportunity to try the storm. I for the life of me can't get the storm to sync up to my MAC, I have gone to the BB site and downloaded the pocket mac and still nothing. So with not being able to do that I can't get any of my contacts updated. the other reason why I bought the package deal of both phones was because my last curve crashed with the "fvm 547" I believe. So I thought man I need a new phone so I don't lose all my contacts again. So as for some of the quirks hmm let me see. Oh one of the things is my alarm will not escalate, it is either 123456789 or 10 or off that bugs me since it does wake me up. #2 Once the keyboard comes up while i am on a screen it is a pain to go into the options and scroll down and make it go away. #3 I run into a lot of times it saying java not on or something to that affect if i am trying to see a vid that is on You tube or any kind of video's or other things. NO im not into the porn thing. So that kinda bugs me where as the curve it would just come right up. I know that's a lot, so I will go with that for now. please forgive me If i am a little ignorant to some of the wordings you guys put up. I gotta lot to learn. And yes I love the storm so I will try to make the time. lol hopefully today I can work through some of these things. As for the software if i do go to the next on up beta will I lose all my saved info on the phone? and can we work to get it sync'd up first. thanks.05-20-09 11:50 AMLike 0

2. if you just swipe your finger down the keyboard it will disappear. also swipping up will bring it up in most applications. In messages when you swipe down there will be a send icon in the bottom row too btw which saves you from having to go to the menu as well.
3. I keep java off in my browswer config with a prompt to use because it makes the browser run way faster. i dont understand why youtube isnt working as i use the mobile site and not the app anyway. takes up less memory on the phone and to me is faster anyway. just personal opinion though. check your browser settings though and you should be able to find the answer to your java problem there. if it is the app itself then try uninstalling, rebooting, reinstalling and rebooting again. i know that seems like a lot to have to do but that is usually the answer to everything. either that or just a battery pull.
there is a slight learning curve but dont give up, youll get the hang of it, just stay positive.05-20-09 12:49 PMLike 0 - I don't actually do work when at work. I might spend 6 hours in a WEEK actually doing work. The rest of my time is spent messing with my coworkers, drinking red bulls, looking at porn and sports stuff, and farting in my chair.
It's sad, really, though also the norm in DC.05-20-09 12:50 PMLike 0 - Well I do have parallels but I am pretty sure that doesn't work on the mac as well. not sure what ical is. Is that I calender? the nice thing that worked with the curve was that I could just go to the address book and it would sync right up. I will try it with the Parallels and see if that works. Give me a few i will keep you posted.05-20-09 12:58 PMLike 0
- Nope can't get it to sync up that way either. When I plug it in the phone shows the comp. with arrows going to the phone on the screen but when you try sync up it all freezes up. Im sick very frustrating. I called BB a week ago and they say they want me to go to a sftware downgrade,05-20-09 01:19 PMLike 0
