It may be too late, but be sure to backup both your data and third party apps. Two different processes to do this.

Great call DJM. From the sounds of his post, he had no idea. You just saved him everything!

Yes you use DM and click backup. You should still probably back up your 3rd party apps separately even if you can download them all again. There are great how to threads that you can use to help you backup everything just search for em.

Backup using the method below helps you avoid downloading or reinstalling your apps one-by-one. This is especially helpful if you have apps from places other than the CB app store or from multiple places (I have apps from the app store, CB's Storm OTA thread, and individual developer sites).

First you get a towel, (preferablly micro-fiber) and begin to gently rub the screen making sure to to get every finger print and smudge...then all you need to do is plug the phone into your computer via usb, bring up DM and follow the steps to upgrade your phone. It is as easy as that...

Use the "3rd party apps" link above for instructions for backing up apps. Use DM's "backu/restore" feature for contacts, settings, etc. This will allow you to select or deselect whatever you want backed up [Or, if you use Outlook or some other program, just re-synch your contacts after the new OS is loaded.]

I have read other places in this forum that it is highly recommended that you do not back up 3rd party apps. Instead, re-download all of them after the fresh install.
