Lets say RIM provides .150 to Verizon to check. Verizon doesn't like it, so RIM works on it again, but this time, since they redid the OS, it's now .155.
What gets leaked is the same .150 that got sent to Verizon. With the exact same code that Verizon found unacceptable to put their "official" label on. If those bugs got fixed, the you would have the .155, which is what would get leaked if Verizon didn't like that one either.
So essentially your QA explanation isn't really a difference between the "official" copy and leaked copy. It's the difference between .150 and .155. One has bugs and one has those bugs fixed. Either one can be leaked to the public regardless of QA.05-15-09 01:07 PMLike 0 - how are we the ones that dont know what we are talking about. Everything you said about your small problems with BES are the reason that it exists. IT was designed that way to stop people like you from racking up a stupid phone bill. You have talked yourself in a circle and now are stuck. There is no good way out of this other than you got in over your head with people who know more than you, **** your phone knows more than you. Why do people like you insist on pretending to be so smart? I mean except for the typos in your answer that was right out of your IT policy.
How is all your data going through a third party a small problem?

i always forget that ninjas are invisible to most CB users...05-15-09 01:12 PMLike 0 - I just want to say that I love my blackberry storm. I know it had bugs and still does. That is why I come to crackberry and other sites that will remain
nameless. I can fix most of these problems with help from other techies and get the benefit of a piece of technology that now works and does what I expected it to do. I never purchase a first generation product of any sort and expect it to work flawlessly. That is an insane expectation. I am part of the super minority out here that actually enjoys testing and tweaking new products. Still.....too many people expect perfection and should just wait for a third generation product to buy. One and two will both have too many problems and then the guys that borrowed the money from mommy and daddy to buy it will get all bent outta shape cuz it doesn't do what they expected. There is a big dif between design and expectation. Read before you buy. If all you want is a status symbol and the only reason you stood inline to be among the first to have one then you are a straight up fool. You will always be complaining about being taken for a ride and wasting other peoples time with your sniveling and complaining. Get a real job so you can afford toys and learn how to research before you buy. If yoy hate it that much ask yer mommy and daddy to buy you something else. Otherwise shut up. No one likes you.

Company X uses BES services to push company data to their employees' BlackBerries. BES receives money for those services. Company X gains money as their employees get the data in a timely fashion. Company X can now keep providing RIM money for the BES services. RIM earns money and continues providing Company X with BES services. And the circle continues.
Unless RIM completely collapses in on itself or Company X folds, I don't see the problem here.
If it's security you're concerned about, isn't BES one of the most secure services? Our government all the way up to the man himself trusts BES with national security information.
Then that's personal preference. It has nothing to do with if the "official" .150 is the same as the leaked .150. If you don't want to use a leaked version that clearly fixes many of your gripes (just search these forums) and continue to gripe that it sucks (because you didn't upgrade), then that's all on you.Last edited by Zipster; 05-15-09 at 01:19 PM.

Posted from my CrackBerry at wapforums.crackberry.com05-15-09 01:16 PMLike 0 - technically everyones data does, but for what your saying, you need to stop trying to buy 12 year old boi's(<--) from over seas on your work phone. Like I said, your boss does that for a reason, He doesnt want his employees running rampid on the phones. SO he put you on a BES so he could control you through this third party so if you want to know why it goes that way... hmmmm.... ASK HIM. dont complain about your free ****, and things you think you know because you have to put up with them. If he wanted you to have complete access and control to your data, and phone. He would have you on a BIS, but he doesnt does he?

- patches152Bannedfor everyone's future reference, since my "vacation" I’ve had a bit of an open dialogue with a few of the mods/admins here, and the foul language/personal attacks are going to be cracked down on big time...so especially in rants/raves, let’s try to keep it logical and use factual evidence to back up our positions so nothing happens to the good people. The trolls will continue to use the foul language and personal attacks, and they'll get what's coming to them really quick05-17-09 01:56 AMLike 0
- for everyone's future reference, since my "vacation" Ive had a bit of an open dialogue with a few of the mods/admins here, and the foul language/personal attacks are going to be cracked down on big time...so especially in rants/raves, lets try to keep it logical and use factual evidence to back up our positions so nothing happens to the good people. The trolls will continue to use the foul language and personal attacks, and they'll get what's coming to them really quick
For my part though, I don't get this obsession some people have with "foul" language. It just seems completely arbitrary. For years I've asked people to define what a "swear word" is in purely objective terms, and of course simply listing a set of words doesn't count as a definition. For years no one has been able to give me any kind of answer beyond the wishy washy "I'll know it when I see it" crap.
If someone is so delicate that they can't handle a little "strong" language, then they should be plopped on the couch with the Disney channel on or something, not on a message board where real people will be conversing. And why these words are so horrible when you read them on a message board, but no one blinks an eye when you hear it "live" is another mystery to me.
And all the usual arguments about how posting here is a privilege not a right, is just a giant cop-out that doesn't even answer the question. It's just taking a giant authoritarian hammer and beating the person over the head with it. You expect that kind of behavior out of someone who's 6, and when they start losing some game, they take their toys and go home. You would think that since we're all intelligent adults (well, presumably) we could have a rational discussion about it, and if the powers that be couldn't really come up with a good valid reason why it should be that way, they'd change it.
Personally, I'd like to propose the idea (again) that the language filter thing be optional. It can be turned on by default even, but give people the option to turn it off if they think they can handle it. Odds are they've heard plenty worse in the "real world" already, so if their ears haven't started bleeding from that, it seems unlikely it will start now. That, or the powers that be offer up a good reasonable explanation why it must be this way. And believe me, I get the idea that CB isn't looking to upset people who buy ads here, and it's a delicate balance to try and maintain between giving people freedom to converse while not upsetting sponsors. I have a BA in marketing, so I understand the business side full well. Which is why it would seem like an opt-out solution would work out the best. It's on by default, so that's what most people see, but people can make a deliberate choice to turn it off. The hard part of that's already done, in that the filter exists. Now it's just a matter of creating an option of whether or not a post is run through that filter based on the person's account settings. Might even reduce the server load a little this way.
Otherwise, I just don't really see the point. I hate to make a slippery slope argument, but it is just that kind of situation. How long until CB caves to pressure from some advertiser and starts prohibiting more things? Like no more negative comments about advertiser products/services unless it's buried deep in some forum virtually no one is going to go to, like the off-topic forum, and only people with registered accounts can access.
Much as I dislike the disruptive nature of trolls, I think they should be allowed to post their views. Doesn't mean if I were a mod, I'd be booting CK/RC the second he started making slanderous comments about other members, or made factually incorrect or unsupportable comments. I'd probably also make him choose one account, out of the 3-4 (or more) he has, and the rest would be deleted. But so long as they clearly mark their comments as opinions, or back them up with something, I see no reason why they shouldn't be allowed to post.
Anyway, I guess we'll see whether or not the mods can actually live up to some of the promises they've made. I'm hoping for the best, but not expecting anything.05-17-09 11:49 AMLike 0 -
- patches152Bannedthat's kinda what i feel as well, i'm just speaking based on what has come from the discussions so far...i could care less about language or trolls, but the rules are clear. and if you break the rules, expect a reaction. that's my complaint. that some people aren't being held to the same standard as everyone else.05-17-09 12:26 PMLike 0
