I ABSOLUTELY LOVE IT! IF IT WERE A HER/HE, ID SLEEP WITH IT!
-
A couple of minor problems can never hold me away from it!
-
It sucks and I am on the verge of taking advantage of my 30 day worry free!
-
Returned it, dont like it, wont associate myself with anyone who owns one!
- Blackberry Storm Owners listen up!
I am sick of hearing people talking so negatively about a phone that was pushed out to the public before Christmas so that the families that want to purchase them for the holidays can!
Its unfair to expect so much in so little time. You guys complain if the phone doesnt work with a leaked OS, you complain if it doesnt work with the official OS, so wouldnt you want a flawless, or near flawless OS to come out officially? I know that they dont want to push out a new OS that doesnt work and have EVERYONE (and their puppies) complaining about it...Just sit back, relax, and realize you purchased a first edition blackberry storm. Its going to be fixed, yours will get replaced, and you will eventually have that phone that you expected, but back off the complaining a little bit and just have fun with it...
Now go wrap your Blackberry Storms up, throw a nice card in it, and put it under the tree, or in front of the Menorah for your families and friends, so that you can enjoy the smiles on their faces when they open up a brand new touch screen blackberry.
and by the way....I love my phone, I have had this phone since day one, and I cannot express how much of a powerhouse this phone truely is. I used to have a phone with a one line screen that was bigger than Zack Morris's phone and cost me $1.25 a minute to use with only 40 min a month in my plan. Now look what I can do, I can surf the web, instant message, email, GPS, page, post to threads on forums, call, have an alarm, and listen to music and watch videos, and take movies and videos!!! I mean, this thing truely does it all..There really isnt a feature that isnt included. Thanks to everyone who made this phone happen
Hapy holidays and happy new year!12-24-08 10:20 AMLike 0 - Remember too that the iPhone has plenty of issues too on its initial release.
I know that both RIM and VZW have several testers on hand prior to release and while it may be true that this phone was pushed out a little prematurely, I can't imagine that a team of a couple hundred testers can find issues whereas several thousand everyday users can.
Also remember that a lot of people are new to Blackberry who purchase the Storm (75% according to RIM) so normal issues to any Blackberry faithful can be completely mind boggling to new users, especially if its their first smartphone.
RIM is hard at work in fixing these issues so our voices are being heard.
The most important thing to know about BB's is that ANY seemingly catastrophic software error can be easily fixed via JL Commander and reinstallation of any OS of the user's choice.
The hardware issues (with the screen most notably) are a bit unfortunate.Last edited by fecurtis; 12-24-08 at 10:58 AM.
12-24-08 10:36 AMLike 0 - Excellent point!
It is great to be able to share issues and gripes with others who have the same issues and to know "we are not alone" in this experience.
It is by far the best phone I have ever used, and this forum has helped me make the most of it for now until improvements can be released.
Thank you Crackberry.com!
Merry Chrismukkah to all!12-24-08 10:49 AMLike 0 - Great post! I could not have typed that any better myself. Actually you typed it better than I ever could have.
You hit the nail on the head also.
Hopefully this will be read by all (yeah right) and will help them see the light on how new technology is and the way of the beast so to say.
Also the phone is a powerhouse. I love it!! Could not ask for anything better in a first gen storm!12-24-08 10:57 AMLike 0 -
Merry Christmas old man!
At least i am not old enough to have had a briefcase style nokia like in lethal wepon 1. (But i think my dad had one, he also had a car phone... lol)
12-24-08 10:58 AMLike 0 - I second that! I'm a bb newbie & yes, it can be a little intimidating at times, but I've tried to educate myself through the forums.
I love this phone & it has definitely helped me increase my productivity at work!12-24-08 12:14 PMLike 0 -
- How will our BBs get replaced? They don't let u exchange a phone just because u have a first edition do they?
Posted from my CrackBerry at wapforums.crackberry.com12-24-08 12:37 PMLike 0 - Yeah, go Storm! I have no issues, and it doesn't get any better than a touch screen BlackBerry.
Posted from my CrackBerry at wapforums.crackberry.com12-24-08 12:40 PMLike 0 - I don't see why so many people get upset about people complaining about the phone. (I mean I wish it was just in one thread.) But, I like the fact that people voice there complaints and issues. ****, I learn from them.
What grinds my gears is blind worship of anything. Lets face it the storm is not without its flaws. I'm overall very happy with it but there are a lot of design issues. IE. Click problems, buttons not secured or even, dust under the screen. If people don't voice there concern these issues won't be tended to. The more people complain the higher up the food chain these issues go.
This is coming from a person that is overall very satisfied with the phone. Who really felt ripped off by the voyager and blatant lies and misinformation by devoted people. Possibly working for LG or Verizon to brainwash people that it was the best thing since sliced bread. (How cnet could say that phone was better than the iphone is unbelievable.) I read all the message boards about oh the next update will include multi tasking. It will make it do all these things that never happened.
I now turn to youtube reviews more than any "expert" opinions. Even if a person is screaming something its a pos. At least I feel based on the amount of profanity used. (But no solely). That this is an honest review and not someone that was paid off. Because I know if I was a reviewer making 40-50k. A company said hey we'll pay you $5k to say are product rocks and everything else sucks. Guess what I would do it in a heart be. I believe a lot of others do also.
Cliff notes.
If you have an issue voice it. Just search first to see if someone already answered that issue.Last edited by polorsport; 12-24-08 at 01:12 PM.
12-24-08 01:05 PMLike 0 - You are old... As am I. I also remember my Zach Morris phone. In fact I remember Zach, Slater, Jesse, Lisa, Screetch, Kelly and Mr. Belding.

And someone mentioned that the iPhone also had problems when it was released. The fact of the matter is that it STILL has bugs. It's a great device in many ways, but still flawed too.
And Merry Christmas or Happy Holidays of whatever type you celebrate!Last edited by ChuckH0308; 12-24-08 at 04:08 PM. Reason: Holiday

It increased the camera speed considerably and made taking photos much easier. However, it still didn't fix the random resolution settings change that I've been getting. All my photos come out in different resolutions without me changing settings.
The video camera works better now and I can play my videos back right after filming without getting the "unsupported format" error.
Sound quality and volume through stereo bluetooth increased significantly.
In general, performance seems a bit more crisp.
The lock and unlock happens immediately now.
Bad:
.83 removes the ability to use bluetooth stereo for video playback. Only works with music now.
The first day I had problems at boot up where the phone would freeze at the Verizon Screen After three battery pulls it worked fine again and I haven't had the problem since.
Not sure if it has anything to do with the update, but yesterday I had a problem with playing a movie. It played fine, but then when I went to stop it the phone crashed. All I had was a black screen and the movie sound was still playing. Nothing I pushed would help so I just had to pull the battery while it was playing the movie soundtrack. That's the only time I've had a problem like that though.
Everything else seems to be pretty much the same or close enough that I can't tell the difference. I didn't have any troubles with the actual upgrade...all my apps were there and everything, including third party apps.12-24-08 04:49 PMLike 0 - I just would like to say thanks to everyone for posting in my thread...I completely understand some of you are fed up with your phones, and with a little patience, you will have that touch screen phone you were promised....Now enjoy your holidays, thanks again for all your support!!!!
