What os are you running? Are you running a hybrid?

try reinstallung the OS. Backup your bb first then wipe and install os.

    1. Backup my bb with DM
    2. Install the OS to PC (hybrid install optional)
    3. Backup my third party app using BBSAK 7.1
    4. Wipe the bb using bbsak
    5. Load os using bbsak and reinstall third party app
    6. Restore bb using the DM

If nothing else works, and you said you "banged it" on something, maybe the power button is permanently shorting? Might have to take it apart. But again, that's just a guess assuming that it isn't a wonky app installed or an OS issue.
